...First of all, Gyo isn't Ren. Not at all. Gyo is shifting aura from being spread evenly to instead emphasizing certain parts, especially the eyes. It's basically moving aura around, which seems like a pretty basic principle to me. A Conjurer obviously needs to use Gyo for the same reason everyone else does, to see invisible aura. And if, for example, someone like Kastro Conjured a separate body, he could then use Gyo to allocate more aura to it (maybe even see through its eyes). I don't see why you think Gyo is inapplicable to Conjuration.
As for Hatsu using all the basic principles... yes, that was exactly my point. Hatsu is everything. I agree completely that Hatsu is part of all the other techniques, and in fact that was my entire point. The other basic principles don't overlap in the same way. Using Ten and Zetsu at the same time makes no sense, because if you're suppressing your aura there's no way you can create a shroud of it around you. Unless you're doing it on different parts of your body or something. Ten, Zetsu, Ren, and Gyo are all ways to control your aura. Hatsu is a way to make your aura do something. Of course Hatsu will overlap with everything else, which is exactly why I think it's misleading to put it on the same level. Just the fact that it's being divided into 6 categories should clue you in that this another class of thing entirely. Another clue is that Wing lets them graduate without teaching them a thing about using Hatsu, leaving it entirely up to them to experiment with. Last edited by Clarste; 2012-06-24 at 03:33. |

As for this episode, the highlight for me was Hisoka's warning to Gon: "You should take care, because Transmuters are fickle. It takes a mere second for treasure to turn to trash. So... Do not disappoint me, Gon." Man, my ex-girlfriend would totally be a Transmuter. But yeah, that was the moment that made me fall in love with Hisoka. I liked him from the start, but I had mixed feelings about the extent to which he seemed to be entranced by Gon. If just felt as if Gon would never be in any real danger because Hisoka liked him so much he would never really consider harming him beyond repair. But that warning makes it clear that if Gon ever stops being the adorably spunky and ingenious little boy he is, Hisoka's interest will instantly wane and Gon will meet the same end as Kastro. Hisoka is actually quite demanding of his toys. |

Yes, but breaking them at their best (or, to use his terminology, when they become ripe enough), which initially made me believe Gon was perfectly safe until he grew strong enough to be a challenge, which I felt was kinda lame. But as it turns out, he is in constant danger of being broken and discarded as trash if he doesn't measure up to Hisoka's expectations for him, which makes their rivalry that much more thrilling. To me, as a viewer, and probably to Gon as well.

I dunno. There was some great animation and Hisoka did demostrate his cleverness impressively, but the peadophilic undertones just totally ruined it fo me. And it's not like the result was surprising either. But in any case, it was definitely a solid conclusion to this arc. Hopefully there will now be more focus on the other characters.

Hisoka vs Gon continues.
As things are now, Gon just doesn't stand a chance. Hisoka was just incredbile, his powers are amazing. He managed to kick Gon's ass and lecture him all at the same time. So this concluded their stay at Heavens Arena.

I thought the fight with Hisoka was going to be even more brutal than it was and then when I realized that the ref was actually deliberately speeding up the fight so that Gon wouldn't really get hurt I was reminded of the end of chippy hockey games where the refs just starting tossing out misconducts for everything to get troublemakers off the ice.
Anyway looks like we get Keiko Han back next episode and that makes me a happy man. |

And three (or 2bis), show off so Gon'll be even more excited for the eventual rematch. |

Old version is full of fillers. I think elevator girl and other workers would be a nice touch but overall new version is more on point and it had more effect. Too much comical approach would destroy the spirit of series. Anyway I am loving the re-make so far :3
