Naruto Shippuden Movie 4 - July 31
The official websites for the Naruto anime films have relaunched with the title and date of the fourth Naruto Shippūden film (and 7th Naruto film overall): Naruto Shippūden: The Lost Tower on July 31. In this "dimension-crossing" adventure, the title ninja character Naruto will travel back in time and meet his father, the Fourth Hokage Minato Namikaze. Masahiko Murata is directing as he did for the last film (Naruto Shippūden: Hi no Ishi o Tsugumono). Junki Takegami, the television series script supervisor and the writer of the three previous films, wrote the screenplay.

I never liked the Naruto movies (but like the manga), but this actually sounds like fun. It's kind of "Back to the Future". To meet his Dad is nice, but I rather want to know whether Naruto will see his mum, Kushina Uzumaki. And lets hope there will be a better antagonist/enemy/big boss in this one, because in all these Naruto movies the "end boss" is a dissapointment after dissapointment, just like Bleach movies (nothing personal! And I like the manga with the main plot).
There's definitely potential in this one, just hope the movie creators don't screw this up. |

This seems like a very weird movie. Naruto will not be able to use any techniques but Kage Bushin in the film, mostly because he can never use Minato's techniques while Minato is using them without giving away their relationship.
So, I'm going to go out on a limb and say this will not show Minato kicking ass as a Jounin, but rather Minato as a genin. In which case, Naruto will be the "inspiration" for Minato developing the Rasengan, or some such nonsense that could only work in an animated movie based off of a anime series that is based on a manga series... |

But anyway, I don't expect the movie writers to care for such details. Now that I think about it, it doesn't even matter. Minato would recognize his son. |

^And Summoning. But, yeah you are probably correct, the aniem team will do whatever they want without regard to any actual story...still, I hope we will get to see Kushina animated, even if it is just for a little while...
That being said, just where is this movie supposed to fit into the current anime storyline? Before or During Senjutsu training is the most likely option... |

Nah, Naruto's had a couple of towers before...summoned filler castle, the Mugenjo from the video games, and now this. What's with Naruto and towers!? Btw Naruto doesn't know that Minato is his father right? Well, with his brains, I doubt he'll figure it out anyway

The movie could take place sometime during the 8-9 months after Naruto was conceived...in which case, I suppose it wouldn't matter whether Minato finds out older Naruto is really his son. But I'm only stating that because, I'll bet this movie's final fight will end with a father-son kamehameh---I mean rasengan.

Realistically, it all depends when Naruto goes back in time. I'd say there are 3 options: 1) go back to play with genin-Minato; 2) play around with chibi-Kakashi and Team Minato during the 3rd War; or 3) come during the Kyuubi attack. I highly doubt the 3rd option, and the 2nd option also seems a little unreaosnable (considering that Kakashi would remember meeting Naruto in the past), so the 1st option seems the most likely. That way, Naruto and Minato can battle the final boss together (as sayde has pointed out)... That being said, I hope to see Sarutobi again...better yet, he could fight a Kage during the movie...but that is hoping for too much... |
