There's no such thing as overdoing it in Saki. The more flares the better. However I do agree with the smile part. Most of Poker face Saki was left out the manga.

Here's a link to a blog of chapter 53. (Not much in the way of images.) You can already tell that the manga is taking a different approach to the aftermath of the final round from the anime. lol Ikeda.

More blogs of chapter 53, with more images from it. The commentary so far is that the manga does a much better job of wrapping things up than the anime did. (Not a huge surprise.)

This one has the most interesting images:

This one shows the difference in Coach Kubo's reactions. Funny Stuff.

And this one challenges Ikeda's assertion that she had fun. (How did she have fun? o_O)

Raw for chapter 53 is finally available for these interested.
Had no time to read it but after fast skim it unfortunately looks like it will trail behind anime for some time

ep 54&55....

well, what can I say. The mangaka is sure going at her pace.

The scene with Kana and the Coach got a lot more emotional though through sheer art force. Nice job with the art in that scene.

So, in ch. 55, when Saki runs off, is she heading to the bathroom or something? I sort of preferred the anime ending of ep. 19 instead where they posed for pictures.

They can always pose for pictures when she returns from the bathroom, but whatever. I guess it will be still one or two months till we see where the manga is headed.

I hope, if the manga does the individuals too, the results will be different. I'm glad Mihoko won, but I don't think we needed to see Saki and Nodoka win again. They are already in the nationals; so, I think it'd be much more interesting if we see other characters (i.e. non-Kyosumi) in the individuals.

I doubt the manga will go through the individual tournament, but who knows. In any case, the problem if the manga decides to go its own way is that it will create some discontinuity that may later cause some problems. I for one hope they just move to the next thing...

As in, it does have release dates? I would have sworn it followed a random distribution.

Well it's published in a magazine that comes out bi-monthly... first and third Friday of every month. I'd heard that she took a break for the first week of October so this week should have been ch. 56...

Is the next chapter going to be released someday? does anyone has news on whether we can expect a new chapter before the end of the world in 2012?

Hmmm, I thought it would have been out already but guess not...

There's nothing in the preview of next issue of Young GanGan either : http://www.square-enix.co.jp/magazine/yg/next/

Finally it moved somehow. Had no time to read it, but looks like new characters/teams are introduced. And no Saki or Nodoka this week
