Blah. I feel silly for never checking to see what AnimeSuki's pre-airing Fate/Zero thread is like. Well, I'm here now, so no harm done. Just a few things to say.
I'd like to put my prediction (and hopes) down for a Summer air date. Either way, isn't something about this going to be revealed at some convention thing near the end of this month? I definitely believe I saw something on ANN awhile back about ufotable being there, so hopefully we'll get more details (air date, composer) within the month. Of course, I'm extremely thrilled ufotable is doing this and not DEEN. It's about time Fate got a good anime. Now if only it gets so insanely popular it leds to ufotable doing their own Fate/stay night adaptation afterwards. And as for Nasu vs Gen. I think Nasu is a much better story-teller, but Gen is a bit more solid of a writer. I'd personally say I like Nasu better, but I honestly see no need to compare them. They are friends, their work tends to differ and is not easy to compare, and this is the product of Gen writing a Nasuverse story, so there should be no rivalry between them with this. Just sit back and enjoy the greatness of Fate. And OMG GILGAMESH WHY ARE YOU SO AMAZING?! |

If they did that, logically I think the only route they could animate at this point would be Heaven's Feel, considering the first anime was mostly Fate and the movie was UBW. Anything else would feel kind of like a rehash of what we've seen before.

Or they could do the opposite of DEEN's original anime. Mostly Heaven's Feel with a bit of Fate and UBW elements in it. The ones that can kinda work anyway. Well, maybe at least just give Saber a tiny bit of her Fate resolution and throw in the Archer/Gilgamesh elements from UBW. It'd take a bit of changes to the source material, but it'd be one awesome anime coming from ufotable. Alas, 'tis just a dream... |

Just because DEEN did it horribly doesn't mean it can't be done well. Most of the loved adaptations of VNs, be it an anime or manga, mix the routes to some degree, up to the point where they can logically work in the route they have chosen. If it's handled competently, then it'd be awesome. Not that I wouldn't also love just a straight Heaven's Feel adaptation. But adding some Saber resolution, and the Archer and Gilgamesh situations from UBW to it, would likely make it the supreme adaptation of F/SN overall.
And I only mention it here, because it's what I am thinking would be a good sequel to Fate/Zero anime by ufotable. It'd be nice to see them follow up the prequel with their take on the main thing. But, I guess there isn't much that can be said on that until F/Z is over. So, yeah, okay, maybe a bit too off-topic for just this thread. |
