Well, keep in mind that that's the disc's total running time, which includes all the extras. And from the looks of things, the disc will include a lot of extras. So... I'd be more apt to assume that the episode will be roughly normal length (or maybe 30 minutes), but we'll see in a few months.

Question!

What is Asuta's full name? I can't seem to find any part where they state his full name.

However, in episode 7 (at the beach), Jan Puu greeted everyone else, meeting for the first time. She called Asuta, "Asuta-rin". Then Asuta went on to comment that Jan Puu only called him by his last name. So that means Asuta is his last name?

This could call for a different view of the others' relationship with Asuta, considering that calling someone by their last name in Japan signifies a not so close relationship? Not too sure here..

Hm. His full name is Asuta Soro, but (correct me if im wrong) when written in Japanese his name is flipped (曽呂明日太 Soro Asuta) which would make his first name his last name as noted on Wikipedia. I could be totally wrong here so please forgive me if I am

Both are correct.
The older romanization of the sound for ”し” is "si" but the newer romanization is "shi" which accounts for the fact the actual sound is more "shi" like. The older romanization tried to keep all the sounds in a "two letter" format.

You will still see the older romanization in older text and some advertising and when people who learned their romaji ages ago write in it.

Watch the show opener and you'll see that the creators *spell* it "kasimasi".
Most people writing about the show have been trained in the newer romaji and will spell it "kashimashi".

To be anal.. the correct spelling is to use the hiragana, of course: かしまし。

Seven Seas Entertainment has licensed the manga (see www.gomanga.com) and chosen to spell it "Kashmashi"

3 months late but I think you made a typo here, Seven Seas spell it "Kashimashi" (you mised the first "i"). But as you say, the important point is that both "si" and "shi" can be considered as correct.

It may be premature but I notice that Amazon implies it may be sub only

Quote:
Product Details

Format: Subtitled, NTSC
Language: Japanese
It would explain the lower price than normal.

Last edited by xris; 2007-02-25 at 15:55. Reason: Corrected typo, meant to say "sub" not "dub"

For that price, I don't think I'd mind it being sub-only. I guess they may have figured that adding a dub wouldn't really attract that many additional fans to the show. It would have been neat, of course, but I like all the original Japanese voices a lot. Hopefully the cheaper price point will convice fans from places like these (who generally don't care for dubs much) to support the show.

eek a typo...

yeah, I'm perfectly fine with the cost savings since dubs are usually a fail for me anyway. Much more likely to buy this now.

About the Kashimashi vs Kasimasi thing: As they said earlier, both are correct. Kashimashi uses what I call the "phoenetic" spelling (I forget the official name), whereas Kasimasi is the "Hepburn" spelling. The Japanese themselves prefer using Hepburn style for romaji, whereas the foreign-speakers tend to prefer the phoenetic.

I have a Question...

I've got the OST, it's good, but alot of the songs I never heard before and can't remember hearing in the anime..

Whats up with that? Is it just me or are there new songs here?

Every series has songs that never get used in the series, what your hearing is probably one of them :P
