Well, that assures it; this VC is definitely an AU version.
Spoiler for Episode 10:
Great character development for Alicia and Welkin, but not much else. Still, I gave it a 9 because of how well the episode did its job.
Spoiler for Next episode:

Well this episode has completely convinced me that this show will be very different than the game and I'll just have to accept that. This episode was pretty decent overall, but everything seemed a little bit akward and out of place in transition from the previous episode.

i didnt like this episode.

felt filler-ish, well the last 4 episodes have felt like filler to me ... this show is a lot different from i expected from watching the first 5. And from looking at the preview ep 11 looks like more fan service filler. I guess I shouldnt complain much because this series handles fillers exceptionally well (like in ep6). Seems like this series is going to focus a lot on characters and less on plot.

haha well thats anime for ya
just take note of what serenade_beta said while back "should treat the game and anime as 2 different things"
Thats what I do with anime and gaming and even manga.
I'm not bothered its diffferent, all good to me especially given the next ep OMG can't wait for that!

but this ep was fairly nice, stuff with Welkin and Alicia is great, gotta love that flustered doe-eyed look she gave Welkin
all I can say about the lad is he's got a will as strong as steel to not have taken advantage of the situation, not sure this is a good or bad thing

For a future hero of Gallia this alternate Welkin sure is skipping a lot of battle action.

Yep, alternate universe alright.

Spoiler for next episode:

The Forest Snare Chapter-non-combat option..haha I actually think the scene where Alicia sprain her ankle and Welkin applying herb to her would be more better..but yea...Fritz(don't even think that's his name in the anime) sure is sturdy.

Well I thought it was a nice relaxing episode and it did a good job at making me see the tragic side of this war, even though all wars at like that in general.

As for Alicia x Welkin...it was great to see the girl take the initiative and the guy getting all flustered about it XD

Ahh so Edy has the "wata[ku]shi wa" type voice

I agree with Deathkillz, it was a good episode and not filler at all.

It may not be the most original, but it was a nice story to emphasize how war is hell, and I like the direction they're taking things in general.

kind of disappointed that the anime is not a retelling of the story but a reinterpretation.
I am glad to see more detailed background to the characters, but at the same time I kind of missed all those battle scenes in the game. Guess they listened to their critics about unrealistic combats that they decided not to spend more time on them~unless it's necessary. Which is a pity though, since that would mean the rest of the squad would just be back up characters instead of great soldiers.

Welp.

- No subs.
- No battles.
- No plot. (Jaeger and Selvaria. Generals. Spying. Right. This makes sense how?)
- Nonsense. (... dresses? To a noble's ball? When you're essentially the hired help? Military Dress Uniform yes, dress, no.)

Is there any point to watching this any longer?

I think it's probably best to think that both the anime and the game complement each other. By experiencing both, you would probably get the best experience of the Valkyria Chronicles world. People always have a tendency to think their first experience of a franchise is the best one (since that's what they got attached to), but I think there's probably stuff to appreciate in both approaches. (I know that since this is my own first experience of the franchise, I really appreciate the personable, character-driven direction of the story -- it's very approachable and appealing for me.)

Apparently none for you? I don't think people should force themselves to watch shows they don't enjoy, because it's a waste of precious time. But, I for one am enjoying the way it's going, so... *shrug*

I'm contemplating whether or not I should continue watching this show. I do believe this latest episode was good in its own right, but the direction this show seems to be going, I'm losing interest in it. Its not just that there is not a lot of action(I am an advid fan of dailogue/character driven shows), but I just keep losing interest in the characters as the show moves along.

I guess it's interesting in the sense that we may be starting to see a major divergence in opinion at this point. I guess it just goes to say that different people were looking for different things in the show, and not everyone will necessarily have their expectations fulfilled. (I have to admit that I'm sort of curious as to what the underlying reason for this divergence might be -- is it a personality thing, I wonder? Hmm...)

Anyway, I guess all I hope is that people will be continue to be understanding enough to appreciate that there are other perfectly okay ways of looking at the show as well.

I agree, and I've always been okay with alterations of a previous work if it still catches my interest. The case with Valkyria Chronicles though is that these changes havn't caught my interest enough to keep me commited to the show. The previews for the next episode are giving off some bad vibes for me, but I'll give this show about 3-5 more episodes before I consider dropping it or sticking with it, unless the next few episodes are total disasters for me.

I'll still watch this show to the end, however it's dropped off my 'must watch ASAP' list. More like when I get around to it.
