Obligatory Hiro x Sae moment.

It was a bit of a surprise, wasn't it. Quite nice.

I played that scene back and she uses it to remove broken glass ON HER KNEE. My goodness.

First time I saw her symbol I thought it was a pair of groucho glasses. Then I remembered that thing she uses to tie her hair back.

Seconded. Totally broke the cuteometer...

Although Miyako's "Gram, Grammar, Gramorous" took the biscuit!

The manga was "Gram, Grammar, Gramax." SHAFT has improved upon this one. On the other hand, now I'm not sure if Miya knows English...

I remember that. However, she likes to pepper obscure but correct English in her speech, and kept spelling it wrongly. So I can't tell if she actually knows English...

Absolutely my favorite single line of any episode in any season! HS often makes me smile but rarely laugh out loud; I didn't hold back on this line though.

Do you suppose Miya-chan was thinking of "gram" in its metric sense or as a shorthand for "grandma?"

Like you, I still think the fever dream episode from season one is the best one of the show so far.

Were those the seiyuu in that ad midway through for "Atmosphere?" If so, they all looked remarkably young despite being in their late twenties and thirties. I tried making a couple of comparisons between the group in the ad and some pictures on Asumi Kana's (Yuno) blog but couldn't really tell if they are the same women. Searching for "a.t.m.o.s.p.h.e.r.e" or "Glory Heaven" didn't turn up anything either.

No, those seiyuu are not related Hidamari Sketch. They're the recently formed group "Sphere" , the members of which are all young talented seiyuu such as Tomatsu Haruka (19 yo), Kotobuki Minako (18), Takagaki Ayahi (24) and Toyosaki Aki (23). In 2009 they sang the OP for both Hatsukoi Limited and Sora no Manimani, which were released as singles. Now "atmosphere" is their first album.

---
A word on Hidamari Sketch Hoshimittsu based on episode 1. Well, this show just keeps on getting better and better. I think the introduction of two new characters is very good and will bring some freshness. Hope to see more Natsume too, if possible.

Yeah more Natsume would be nice. I just adore her development with Sae.

I'm sure they'll animate the Natsume special at the end of volume 4.

Miyako held the position of the one with the best scenes before (I don't think that's ever going to change), but Nori is a girl after my own heart. An arts tech geek, and proud of it.

The ED also got closer to its final form, and if the post a little while back was anything to go by, the OP and ED should be complete by next week. I'm looking forward to it.

Also, it looks like the character songs are to be with the DVDs instead of on a CD this time. It's certainly an interesting choice, but I'll be collecting them regardless of the way they're released, especially now with Nori and Nazuna in the running.

Quite the nice episode. Right now the new people are only being used as a catalyst for us to know more about the already existing protagonists, but I'm sure they'll be able to shine on their own in the near future.

Miyako is a tall beautiful blonde whose figure makes the others look like little girls.
She is always cheerful and happy, has a great sense of humor, and is not at all shy, prissy, nervous, or fearful like the others.
AND she'll do anything you ask, if you feed her.
The perfect woman in my book, with or without a haircut.

That Nazuna is unbelievably whiny and annoying and apparently has nothing whatsoever going for her. She'd best shape up before we rent out her room to someone with a personality.

What's with all the feet?

Back to topic.

4 days passed since the girls moved in, and the one in normal class still didnt unpack none of her cardboxes. Something tells me next episode would be about emergency when someone walks in in her room and find a half starved fainted body in the middle of all boxes. She told it herself - she cant cook, she cant do anything by herself.
