They did afair ... they only "came to life" on the "angelic layer" itself.

That was pretty nice.

Is that the guy who used to use a lot of Gundam models before his videos got taken down?

Well, the game came out and KONAMI has updated the HP. The next "episode" will be available on 9/29 for 400yen ($5) as DLC for the game.

Strange, did this show actually aired in the autumn 2011 anime season?

I was expecting it back then.

What I know is this is a short series running in 10 episodes, and each episode last for about an average of 3 and a half minutes.

The premise plays along similar lines to Angelic Layer just that the primary Shinki in this show are independent units, hence, they talk, reason, and feel emotions by themselves.
We do have the Shinki craze is a popular franchise with games, devices to hold Shinki fights, accesory gears, and stuff befitting for a franchise that is a craze amongst the customers.

One of the many differences between Angelic Layer and this show well there are:
- In Angelic Layer's universe the franchise is commonly targeted at little girls to young women, though there were a few boy masters with their own Angels too.
- Shinki universe has the franchise mostly targeted towards young boys for as far as the show let me saw through.

- Thematically, there is no shady, arms-manufacturer corporation or dark company involved or that doesn't exists at all in Angelic Layer's universe; Angels are created to be friends and fighters to their masters.
- Shinki does involve an amoral shady, company designing and manufacturing independent automatons units, structurally designed to look like Shinki on the outside, as to become ultimate weapons.

- Both shows share the same trope about the masters, in the first one a girl and in the second one a boy, brimming with innocence, just and fair, and treating their respective miniature fighters as a friend and a person.

- The drama in Angelic Layer is mostly focused on Misaki meeting and making friends with the other Angels' masters, and she & Hikaru working their way up through the ranks in the Angelic Layer tournament to fight the Angel Athena in the finals, and, at the end of the series, Misaki's estranged mother reveals herself to be Athena's master at the end of the tournament; her and Misaki reuniting with each other.

- The story in Busou Shinki has ingrained dark themes to accentuate the drama about Kaguya's existence longing to know about the outside world, and her escape unknowingly ends throwing her into Tsubasa's life as a turn of fate but each of them bond, nonetheless.

makes me wonder if Konami's other toyline series, the Get Ride! Amdriver series's weapons & armour is compatible with the Shinki's connection ports.....

Supposedly, they are compatible even without modification.

And YES, I have been waiting for these subs

Reminds me of Hand Maid May + Angelic Layer. Gonna have to take a look. I'm a sucker for mecha-musumes.

Ok - finally watched it.

Hmm ... not bad (not great, but not bad) - there were moments when the drama felt absurd and forced, but in a "one shot" ... oh well. Generally ok.

I'd give it a 6.5 out of 10 vote.

I really enjoyed this OVA. A friend introduced me to this franchise a good while back, and I was delighted to see Arvnal and Strarf get their own movie. It made me tear up in a few scenes. Kaguya is so awesome.

Plot: Nothing that unique. Had potentials, but was squandered because it was 5 minutes each.

Characters: Fit perfectly into tropes, even the development. Not that I complain. However, Kaguya's face looks chubby, whild I prefer Ann's (the TV series) more.

Battle: Not that special, and too little to judge.

Music: The OP does bring up nostaligic. However, I wish they could had included all those Shinki in the show.

Overall: 7 on 10. If you're a Busou Shinki fan, then it's a must watch. If not, some harmless fun wouldn't hurt anybody.
