Just for variety... two PNG versions.

The first one is a direct capture, while the second one is a modified one with enhanced colours (to make it prettier so to speak (your mileage may vary)).

Cheers.

I just discovered the "cross contents" page of the official site. Very interesting. When you click on a character's image it takes you to a page with three versions of the character design: (l-r) the original character dsign by Nanao Naru, the final anime character design by Koga Makoto, and the manga character design by Abeno Chako. Seeing the differences is quite instructive.

And has this wallpaper been posted here before? The Japanese says "kill..."

Something I've noticed, not only from the character sketches of Sola, but of Kanon 2006 before it; quite a few of them do this pose where they have their right hand held out, 45 degrees downward. It's pretty prevalent; is it a industry standard or something?

It's to help the animators keep the characters in proportion. Having that pose gives them several points of references. It's not just these two series. If you look at all the "Character Creation" images from various series, they will have that pose amongst others.

Cheers.

Of course, it's never easy to stick character models (or any sort of models, like linearts) for animation (especially if they're heavy on details), sometimes they might turn out better, or worse than what is seen at first. Mecha animes are usually very notoriously known in this aspect, but of course, I got to give credit for Sunrise for making Okawara-designed Gundams better than his linearts in animation, although the same could not be said about anything Katoki.
