It ... really ... isn't ... THAT ... hard to figure out which is the anime thread and which is the manga thread. So I've got zero sympathy for people who can't tell the difference. If they can find "the pub" and read the rules, they can observe the local etiquette. Manga Thread

Back to the discussion:
I'm reading the manga scans in parallel with the series so as not to spoil myself. I'm really quite surprised the manga hasn't been picked up for english translation given some of the absolute drivel that does get up. (edit: I was just informed that Yen Press may have licensed the manga.).
So far my main worry in viewing the anime as a "stand-alone effort" is that with a planned 50+ episodes, the anime will fall into the "egg of the week battle" recycle trap. I'm taking on faith that there's a well-etched overall story arc that minimizes that feeling.

The problem is there's no convenient place for people to go with small questions where they're not really looking to get spoiled like "Does XXXX appear again."

Apart from the prologue arc.. which should concluded in ep 3, this is not monster of the week series ^^

Most Shounen action shows have story arcs. I don't see any reason why Soul Eater won't be the same.

I agree some of the Soul Eater manga posters have done an absolutely rotten job of spoiler tagging. Probably a good thing I'm not a mod

Wellllllllllll, there are story arcs (very little real character evolution) .... and then there are story arcs. I'm just hoping its a story arc more than an inch deep. But rather than blather on about what it might be - I'll just watch as long as I feel like I'm not getting that "same hat different day" feel.

I just love this line XD

Abit, I also agree with the fear you have but then the reassurance from the manga readers that it won't be the case is a good sign ^^

I like the *concept* of the Maka-Soul model.... it just seems a bit rushed as a model. yeah, wait for something better.

The pricing jump has more to do with the dollars value against the yen - which currently sucks. (103 yen to the 1 USD today... til a few weeks ago, it was 120 yen/$1).

I personally quite like the PVC, though it's money problems that can't let me preorder. If it's still available in a few months, then i can order.

Just so people know, Yen Press have licensed the manga for anthology release at the end of July. We'll be seeing volume release early next year.

Well, I finally caught the second episode, and the weird style didn't really irk me this time (but there were fewer city shots, so it was really only the sun, some buildings, and the moon that were unusual.)

It was a pretty good episode, and unlike the "monster of the week"-type things, it was mildly meaningful, what with the kid stuff and such.
Also, would it be safe to assume that each male character will have his own work ("Cool", "Big", etc?)
The fight scenes weren't quite as good as Maka's, but they were still pretty cool and big.

Ehh, yeah.
I'm actually looking forward to the next episode a bit this time.

And let's see if they can make the guns look cool.

So what were the differences between the late night version of Episode 2 and the regular one?

Is it just some fan-service edit?

You seriously don't like this style? For me it was the animation/backgrounds that caught my attention enough to watch episode 1.

Yeah, as many people have said, the animation style was mostly hit or miss.
It's mostly targeted at younger people though, so the style reflects that.

It's funny you say that, I think the style in the manga comes off as a little dark
