The Genderbending of Haruhi Suzumiya [Spoilers Aplenty]

I'm sorry to bring this up again since we seem to have moved past it for awhile.

While there nothing wrong with the fangirls doing the yaoi version of tsuji, I'd like to point out that the clash between Haruhi's anarchic nature and yuri cliches (polite, conformist girls) is inherently funny. Haruki's character in yaoi OTOH, will play straight into plain vanilla emo wangstfests. Besides, most yuri is already so thoroughly shoujo, reading them shrivels the scrotum.

I'm no writer, but I just want to illustrate what I meant by the huge potential humor by putting Haruhi into conflict against yuri stereotypes. Sorry if I did not do it too well.

"Follow me." At that call, Asahina-sempai and I trailed Haruhi like ducklings following after their mother. To my surprise, she didn't lead us far at all; her destination was the class next door all along. Hmm, I regret to admit that I've failed to notice before the small plaque above its door that read "Computer Resarch Society". Does the school really have this sort of club?

One hand grasping firmly with Asahina-sempai's, Haruhi opened the door without knocking and pulled Asahina-sempai into the room. "GOo..." Haruhi's loud greeting was interupted by an older looking girl with her hair tied into tails at both sides of her head. Similar to how we found Nagato, she was the sole occupant of the room; seated behind a PC amidst tidy piles of electronics; her eyes glinting as she leapt at us the moment we entered.

"Ah, fresh mea... I mean welcome to the Computer Research Society! You know, in this new millennium, it is essential for girls to keep up with the influences of changing information technology! From blogs to internet security, the Computer Research Society exists to..."

While she spouted her well prepared introductory speech, Asahina-sempai had escaped Haruhi's clutch and retreated behind me. Haruhi simply look stunned by the tirade, her mouth hanging open.

"So it doesn't matter if you don't have any experience with computers at all, as the president I am willing to guide all new members from the very basics. So, please introduce yourselves."

Even Haruhi looked uneasy as she answered that hopeful anticipating gaze. "Sorry, but we're not interested in joining."

The sempai slumped back pitifully as she mutters, almost to herself."Ah, is that so. Well, this society is not popular as you can see. Even though computers are so important, why is nobody joining? The council had already cut the club funding so much, I had to use my own money here. Can't they understand, society is at a defining moment for its cyberspace, so we have to participate too; not just rely on men!"

I guess her reaction is understandable, after all the computer otaku subset in the female population is remarkably minuscule, especially for the conservative minded ladies in our school.

The lonely otaku then collects herself, her manner changing into one befitting a sempai in our elegant girls school, "Sorry about that. So, what can I do for you?"

"We are your neighbors. We would like a PC from you, please." Haruhi shamelessly answered, while Asahina-sempai and I blushed on her behalf.

"The Controversial Literature Club? Sure." At that Haruhi stood there gaping again, this time barely hiding disgruntled look. She obviously had some diabolical plan to gain that computer from here; like a warlord bringing a huge army to slaughter an enemy, but instead finding the opponent surrendering before battle. I wish I had this girl's carefree optimism; with a computer now in her hands, her excitement had then returned just as quickly.

The president shrugged nonchalantly, but her lips were sourly pursed, "I'm the only member here. I've been trying to get the other clubs to accept some of my computers to use, but they told me that it is more important for ladies to practice their handwriting."

She turned out to be a pretty generous person. She was even impressed by Haruhi's explanation of her intention to challenge the student council and donated her best PC to us. She even helped us assemble the PC and set up the internet connection for us. She reasoned, "This is just the surplus equipment in my club. I hope you can show this traditional feudal age school the power of the information age in organizing regime change. Free your mind!"

Hey, are you serious? Even casually supporting Haruhi might bring you trouble. Do you really want to be associated with a rebellion like Pizza Hut? She smilingly shrugged as she left, "There's a difference in knowing the path, and walking the path."

I challenge the yaoi fans to write a similar scene using beloved male gender stereotypes.

It would probably include something more along the lines of the original scene, forced crotch-groppage, and Kyon vomiting afterwards. I've only read like, two yaoi fics, and only because my friend recomended them to me for the lulz (They were epic badfics), so don't ask me for more ideas. That, and I'm not all that into yaoi. >_>
