What is "A must to watch! "?

Hi.

I just started to get really into Anime around September in 2006 and started watching Animes that some of my friends said I should watch, but now I'm asking you guys (and girls) what series is a MUST-to-watch if you really enjoy Anime like me?!

this is my list of what I have seen and of what I am following at the moment:

Currently following: Death Note, Red Garden, Naruto (crappy fillers), Bleach (fillers again) , Code Geass, School Rumble, Elfen Lied, Asatte no Houkou, Kanon (2006), Pumpkin Scissors

Completed: Ah! My Goddess, Ai Yori Aoshi, Air, Amaenaideyo, Black Cat, Dragon Ball, Girls Bravo, High School Girls, Hunter_X_Hunter, Ichigo 100%, Kanon (2002), Love Hina, Onegai-Teacher, Onegai-Twins, Shaman King, Shuffle, Tsubasa Chronicle, Wolf's Rain

thats really all Anime-experience I have
(so far I have enjoyed allmost all of the series I have watched)

Definitely gives Full Metal Panic (FMP) series (1st season, FMP Fumoffu + FMP TSR) a run.

Watched School Rumble? Then get Azumanga Daioh as well

Another must watch (for me)would be both Rozen Maiden + RM Traumend + RM Ouverture (OVA-just released) ..

Get Karin too =3. lovely and funny story ^^

I suggested Hikaru no Go, but HnG proves to be attractive to only a certain type of peoples.. some truely love it like I do, some despised it.

Lastly .. points to current sig Cowboy Beeeeeeeeeebop ^^

Wow, you've got loads of awesome stuff to get caught up with Some incredible ones to get you started:

Twelve Kingdoms - Fantasy with plenty of politics, fighting, war etc.. Plus one of my favourite female lead characters ever.

Haibane Renmei - nice slow-paced slice-of-life type show in a very unusual setting and background.

I note with dismay that Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu is not on your list. Go. Watch it now and be forever in love with Haruhi Oh, and be prepared to buy the awesome cd singles + OST as well

"Watched School Rumble? Then get Azumanga Daioh as well!" <- I'll add Pani Poni Dash to this as well, it's crazy insane and funny as hell, a must watch.

And finally for now, Great Teacher Onizuka is a classic that everyone should watch, it really is that good

For a lot of these, the manga versions are better

Lots of these series have the couple dating and boyfriend and girlfriend during the series.

Sailor Moon
Fushigi Yuugi
Happy Hustle High
Bokura ga Ita
Mars
Wild Act
Marmalade Boy
Peach Girl
Kare First Love
The Devil Does Exist
High School Debut
Kare Kano
Ayashi no Ceres
Fushigi Yugi
Bokura ga Ita
Paradise Kiss
Love Attack
Absolute Boyfriend
Akuma De Sourou
Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch
Missile Happy!
Sand Chronicles
Land of the Blindfolded
Ceres Celestial Legend
Doubt!!
Ultra Cute

Bokura ga Ita

Very realistic romance

Fushigi Yuugi

Fushigi Yugi manga is much longer and better than the anime, lots more kissing, more sex, two weddings, two proposals, two engagements. The manga is much more romantic and ologner. If you watch the anime, make sure you watch the OVAs, because they cover part of the manga.

Sailor Moon

The couple are boyfriend/girlfriend and dating during the series, get married, have a child, get engaged, lots of romantic kisses. 200 anime episodes, 18 manga volumes, the live action series.

Mars

Emotional romance manga series, deals with sex, rape, dating, relationships, marriage, engagement, secret pasts

Marmalade Boy

Realistic romance series

Ayashi no Ceres

The manga is very good, the anime takes out all the memorable scenes. The manga has lots of scenes with the couple making out in hotel rooms.

Bokura ga Ita
Marmalade Boy
Kare Kano
Fushigi Yuugi
Ayashi no Ceres
Happy Hustle High
Mars
The Devil Does Exist
Kare First Love
Sailor Moon
Peach Girl
Wild Act
Ultra Cute
Love Attack
Fushigi Yugi
Bokura ga Ita
Mars
Akuma De Sourou
High School Debut
Absolute Boyfriend
Paradise Kiss
Missile Happy!

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni - horror/mystery.

Lamune - nice, slow, heart-warming slice-of-life romance anime. One of my favorites as far as romance go.

Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora - drama/romance

Surpisingly enough, the first title coming to my mind by "must watch" and by watching your list, hasn't been mentioned yet.

Fruits Basket is really something that an anime watcher shall never miss

Then I add:

Card Captor Sakura ... well ... because it's legend ^_^ . Series is 70 episodes, and there are 2 movies.

And since I'm here, I may add my favourite anime series as well:

Aishiteruze Baby , heartwarming story about love and caring. Comedy/drama/romance.

take a look here at my fav list... everyone of them is amazing.

not just because they in my favs... they have awesome ratings to back them up to.

I recommend hajime no ippo (best fight scenes out of all the animes i seen and funniest)

I watch lot of anime so hopefully i will have picked something good (GREAT rather ) for you.

Oh or great teacher onizuka... you would be surprised.

hmz actually since you have seen hunter x hunter, naruto and bleach you are at same stage I was before I watched my new favourite which is similar to all 3. An anime called One Piece... i put off watching it for ages because of its style... turned out to be just as good if not better than bleach, hunterxhunter and naruto. (its very similar to them).

Hunter X Hunter - wanting to become the worlds best hunter
Naruto - Wants to become best ninja of them all - the hokage
Bleach - Wants to become strong to protect his friends
One Piece - Wants to become the Pirate King. (the pirate stuff also put me off watching it at first but again... definatly one of the best animes)

So to sum up... if you liked hunter x hunter, naruto and bleach you will definatly like one piece.

Strongly suggest One Piece for you. (at least download first 5 eps and let me know what ya think since i typed so much lol)

Seconded, it's awesome. However, make absolutely sure you watch it in the original Japanese with subs. Seriously, from what I've heard the english dub is worse than horrible and I seem to recall they even switched the awesome catchy jpop soundtrack for some horrible english attempt.

Anyway, Sakura is just too cute to miss, so even if the dub wasn't horrible I'd still avoid it

What is "A must to watch! "?
Wrong phrase?!

Anyway, some "must see" suggestions from me, trying not to repeat already mentioned series:

Noir
Monster
Kino's Journey
Planetes

And see the various "your favourite anime" threads, they should give you further hints as to what is considered "a must see".

As some other people mentioned before, give Great Teacher Onizuka (GTO) a try. This is my alltime favourite anime series. Another one would be Yu Yu Hakusho pretty similar to Dragonball but i somewhat find it more elaborated and frankly just better . That`s all from me for now and should keep you busy for some time.

You have to watch this anime:

Gokujo Seitokai:Rando Rino, who is on her own since the death of her mother, transfers to Miyagami Gakuen, on the recommendation of her penpal, Mr. Poppit. Shortly after her arrival, Rino surprisingly becomes a member of the Gokujou Seitokai, the prestigious student council of Miyagami High. Rino learns that Jinguji Kanade founded Miyagami Gakuen as a place where students can live free from restrictions and that the Gokujou Seitokai was formed to ensure that freedom.

The Gokujou Seitokai is divided into the three main divisions: Executive, Assault and Covert plus the Vehicle Squad.

Each of its members has her own special ability, such as special fighting techniques or weaponry such as cards and a yo-yo, or, in Rino's case, a living hand puppet called Pucchan.

If you are defining "must see" as in "everyone else has seen them so I must watch them too to be considered a knowledgeable anime fan" then some older classics might be good. Pretty much anything that is or was extremely popular, even if it's just hype could fall in to this category.

Or do you mean shows that are so good you really should see them?

I think these should definitely be "must see" shows because they are so different from what most people expect from 'anime'. If you don't mind thinking a little, you will really enjoy these.

I also think you should add Yakitate Japan to the list. Then you can drop Bleach and Naruto and get your shounen fix from this instead!

Most anime I would only recommend to someone with at least a little bit of knowledge about their tastes. But there are three titles I would suggest almost without reservation to anyone. One is the aforementioned Fruits Basket, which really does seem to be impossible to dislike. But the other two don't seem to have been mentioned yet:

Neon Genesis Evangelion: This is the most recent "really big one", a title which shook the world of anime to its foundations and redefined what the medium was capable of, into something approaching its modern form. There are an enormous number of different perspectives on it, many diverse people absolutely love it, and quite a few people hate it. But it's something that anyone remotely interested in anime should see, if only so they can make up their own mind about it!

Princess Tutu: Don't let the title mislead you, this is just quite simply the most perfect anime ever created.

I think Mushishi is a must see. It contains loosely connected stories about life presented in a beautiful style. (Zen is the word that gets into my mind when I think about this series.)

Comedy is a 10-minute anime, is not a comedy, however has some funny moments. It is about a little Irish girl trying to save his village from the enemy. She is trying to make the mysterious black swordsman living in the nearby castle help them. A nice and little bit dark tale.

The first episode of Haruhi is excellent. It is different from the rest of the anime judging from the parts I saw until now. I did not want to watch the series, but I just saw the first episode on New Year's Eve, and laughed my head off. I did not know what we are watching so I thought
Spoiler for spoiler???:

Mmmm I can't remember anything else right now.

EDIT:
Black Lagoon & Black Lagoon: The Second Barrage - just recently the 2nd season ended, definitely a must watch.
Elfen Lied - very gory show, but it has an amazing storyline.
