Skiing or Snowboarding?!

It's that season of the year again - Do any of you guys partake in any of these two winter sports?

I actually only started snowboarding very late last season, and sh*t it is painful especially in the first few days of learning... I can see how a lot of people can easily get discouraged during that timeframe. The snow resorts/parks near our area just opened within the past week or two for this season. I'm actually still learning though, and just got my own gear; it's fun!

I might try snowboarding with my friend during this winter vacation.

I've never actually taken part in either sport, but a lot of my friends, when I was in France, were especially into skiing, so if one day I can, I'll probably try getting into that before snowboarding. I do want to try both though because I'm hardcore like that .

The first time I ever went to do a recreation involving snow was with a large group of family friends and members of the Chinese community in my neighborhood. Needless to say, the vast majority of the kids were taught to ski, with no input allowed from the children themselves. I successfully managed to convince my dad to let me learn to snowboard (mostly because I had this weird desire to stand out), so I could be cool in a way.

Been boarding ever since, and I love it. There's just something about having each leg being able to move separately that bothers me about skiing. Maybe I just have a phobia of situations in which my legs end up being split wide apart... XD

I've been snowboarding for a few years now.
It is rather painful, but I find it to be a swift way
to keep yourself more determind in not falling over. xD

I love the sport.

Skiing. It was easier to learn as the stopping from inline/ice skating seems to carry over better; the falling over bit in snowboarding is painful on the knees and wrists. ("Punching" the snow when falling down is what you're supposed to do, but when you're flailing around - and about to get up-close-and-personal with the snow - it's not easy to remember ATT.)

Skiing, as I have been for the past 15 years (family tradition oh yeeeea). While I had the notion to try snowboarding, it doesn't appeal to me anymore. Haven't got the same appeal nor style, unless pro.

And for crying out loud, stop sitting in the middle of hills and wrecking the wonderful slopes. Otherwise I might get cranky and you'll find yourself in a igloo of snow.

I prefer skiing based solely on experience as I never even tried snowboarding. Skiing is quite fun though, I've hit the trails on and off since I was 3 years old.

I ski.... I've tried snowboarding but something about having my legs locked in place seems constricting to me. OTOH, I'm fully aware that two legs can go in two directions so that's not really useful as a discriminator. I simply like the success of getting two 200cm sticks oriented so I can S-curve my way through the landscape.

BOTH! Hells yeaaaa. I haven't been in like 2 years, I live in Florida. =/ But we used to go to Colorado every year and I'd do both, I miss it so much! Even though skiing is really easy, I favor snowboarding a lot more cause it's similar to wakeboarding, which I do down here when we're out at the lake. Both are so much fun though, I can't wait til I get to go again, hopefully soon!

I ski - the only place I've done it is in Canada, which probably isn't as fun as skiing in the Alps I really like skiing. Ever since I learned to do parallel skiing it's gotten much more fun. I remember when I was in grade 3, doing the 'Pizza' turns... Ugh. Hated that.

And I can tell you that Tigne has one of the best ski domain of Europe. It's just beautiful and it's big

Something that I like too with skiing is that after you finished you can eat a "Fondue Sovoyarde" in a restaurant

I want go back to the Alps
