To be fair, apart from Suzaku, Lelouch, Guilford and Kallen (who doesn't entirely count), they followed the general 'Japanese people - dark hair' 'Britannian people - multi-coloured hair' scheme.
They still should've made it more obvious considering race was |

After reading chapter 4. I'm still skeptical on Renya as a main character. Hasn't stand out in my opinion so far. The Weinberg guy doesn't seem too bad as a character. I guess the Weinbergs like to see talent for potential knights. Very similar to how Gino thought so of Kallen. Both of the Weinbergs thinking that they could switch sides to better themselves.
Hopefully the next few chapters get more interesting.

Cross-posting this in the relevant thread.

However, the only remotely similar reference I've seen, back in issue 1 of the new Renya manga... Spoiler for Renya ch1:
Incidentally, I've already read chapter 4...and I'm actually wondering if they mean to say "Nightmare" instead of "Knightmare" in this context. Or it may be that the same term was later used to describe something completely different, but...who knows? |

Some alternate version of the cycle of rebirth I guess. But that theory is ridiculous. Lelouch died without any such thoughts. Let's have him rest in peace before Sunrise decides to milk him for what he's worth again. Besides, his ancestor or w/e appeared when Renya failed his contract, so we'll see Lelouch's archetype back in action soon enough I bet.

Actually I'll bet the Kanji is for "Rebirth/reincarnation" rather than "Resurrection." I haven't seen the original Japanese so I don't know which it should be. I also concur with you on the "Nightmare" verses "KnightMare" in so far as issue four is concerned. That would certainly make more sense, and as you said, it may be that the Britannian "mobile suits" were later named Knightmares due to this kind of creature. I guess we'll have to wait and see. We don't know what Lelouch knew or didn't know before he died, which is why I asked a question and did not offer up a theory. Only Okouchi and Taniguichi know what Lelouch was thinking which is why I asked for everybody's opinion about it. I see some parallels between this manga and the anime Otogi Zoshi in so far as having characters who are similar in an medieval period to those in a modern era(like Gino's ancester, behaving similar to Gino). It goes along with the Shinto belief in reincarnation, which is one of the major religions in Japan. The mention of resurrection (I assume the word used here is saisei which in Japanese Kanji can sometimes be synonymous with rebirth and can sometimes mean reincarnation) by CC leads me to wonder if this is the first glimpse of a retcon by Sunrise. As you said above, Lelouch may come back if Sunrise sees money in it, and I agree with you that he's dead as a doorknob for now.
