Both are based on LNs and have a similarly absurdist approach to comedy, but, I agree, I'm not sure how the comparison came up either.

I've read there will be a spin off MayoMayo. Will that be anime based or another original story?

Aside from the fact that I don't see what the difference would be between those two (and the fact that one volume has already been released), it's a spinoff featuring another protagonist. Within every larger story, there are a million smaller ones, after all.

@mangatron: The reason the sheep is there is probably because the Japanese words for sheep (hitsuji) and butler (shitsuji) are very similar... I've always thought that this particular pun is quite popular... No idea why the sheep's dripping at the mouth though...

But even then, Mayoi Neko Overrun! also has a light novel with up to 9 volumes and the anime still turned out straight up terrible T_T

Light-novel based anime are way worse than the material that they are based on most of the time.

If you judge light novels by their anime then Hidan no Aria, Kure-nai, Itsuka Tenma no Kuro-Usagi and Densetsu no Yusha no Densetsu must be awful.

Yeah, Kanade mentioned this when she gave the ticket to Jirou. It makes me wonder now, when Konoe went all cuddly for the sheep from the UFO catcher, did Kanade actually "train" her into liking all things sheepish?

Lol first Kureha hated Subaru for stealing her brother than falls in love with her for beating her up. Wonder what she'll do if she finds out that she's a girl. Suzutsuki with her recommendations of how to use the ticket was great. Nice job by Jiro to help Subaru out, the physical exam scenes were great. Looks like he's getting better with his phobia.

Pretty standard beach episode, up until the halfway mark. (Nice eyecatches, by the way). Then we get kidnappings by men in wolf masks...that turn out to be Subaru's father. For a way to teach your daughter a lesson, that's pretty elaborate. Not Bluth-level elaborate, but it's up there. Of course Kanade had a hand in it. Then there's her line in the episode that her (Kanade's) first love was Subaru. Pixiv, get on that. Also, a nice flashback with Kinjiro's dad. Family and people who are like family do need to be looked out for. Looks like Kanade tries her hand at the maid game next week.
