It hasn't been serialized in The Sneaker since the Vol. 8 stories... that was five years ago.

It looks like The Sneaker is still going to be serialising; it's just not going to be in magazine format anymore, if I understand the article correctly. It will instead make use of digital formats, it seems.

Kadokawa Shoten announced that Kyōgaku will have a worldwide simultaneous release, but it is not shipping on May 25 in all 13 countries that currently have the light novel series in print. It will ship on that day in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Korea.
I'm no expert, but I find this a rather strange claim.

First of all, a 'worldwide simultaneous release' but on the other hand, it really isn't.

Also, how do they want to release it in, let's say, the US when the novels till now have been up to Disappearance?

If "world-wide" statement is true, then it would make sense if it was a Net release yes?
Maybe it will be available for purchase bought for mobile phones and what not.

Simple, they'll release it in the US after volume 9 comes out.

They're just using "worldwide" in the sense that it's all the countries that can release it.

I apologize for the late reply but my assumption is that that tagline referred to the updated specialty site that was revealed last Saturday.

For those wondering about store bonuses, Animate has updated their listing with news that all reservations there will receive an original book cover when the First Press Limited Edition is released.

English version update!

According to the official site of Hachette Book Company (who is the parent company of Little, Brown), the 6th novel in the Haruhi Suzumiya novel series will be released on November 7th, 2011! The title has been officially translated as The Wavering of Haruhi Suzumiya.

ISBNs: 9780316038911 (Hardcover) 9780316038928 (Paperback)

Neither book has an official page currently, but you can view the information via their Nagaru Tanigawa bibliography.

It's great that the 6th novel will be available in English this year!

I can't wait for June 7th. If I only had a TPDD! Then I could travel to June and read the next book now

A standard light novel size isn't as expected a thing in the US as it is in Japan. We don't at all mind large books (take a look at the paperback of The Stand some time). "X.2" will probably be bound in the same volume with "X". At the very least, they should be released simultaneously like they will be in Japan.

As you may have noticed when looking at the top of the page Kadokawa has officially unveiled the final cover for Volume 10: The Surprise of Haruhi Suzumiya (First):

Nothing has been revealed for Volume 11: The Surprise of Haruhi Suzumiya (Latter).

I just want to get something straight, so volume 11 or rather the 2nd half of volume ten is the last novel to the series? Was there ever any announcement saying that?

It is highly unlikely that volume 11 is the final volume to the series. There has not been such an announcement and the promotion for these two volumes has not advertised these volumes as being a "final chapter" to the series.

AFAIK there are too many open plot threads to end in a single story anyway, even if it is 600+ pages.

Even if he ended it with these two novels, however, I think I'd feel satisfied. I wouldn't have two years ago, but while I'd still love to see more Haruhi, I've gotten to the point where I'd almost feel happy to see it end.

In addition to the Television Commercial and Promotional Video linked above, Kadokawa updated their Haruhi specialty site today with some more information. Beta still has no effect....
  • The title of the special booklet that comes with the First Press Limited Edition will be The Untold Story of Haruhi Suzumiya (Suzumiya Haruhi no Hiwa).
  • Also included in the booklet will be a feature about the location where Noizi Itou draws her Haruhi images.
  • Kadokawa will be giving away a special bookmark at participating bookstores all over Japan as a bonus for pre-ordering the LE.
  • Nothing will happen if you watch the video linked in the post above 15497 times. (Yes, that was mentioned today)

So far only Animate, Gamers, and Tora no Ana have stated they will be giving out bonuses with purchase of the LE.

Edit: As I think about the title more, bayoab's translation makes a better statement about the Rainy Day short story as well as the behind-the-scenes feature. Thank you bayoab for contributing a better title.

Who has three weeks (plus about 12 hours) to spare to try it?

Believe "Untold Story" works best for the title as it's basically a behind the scenes look.
