This show is comedy gold. Even with knowing what Nyaruko and co actually are, I can't deny that I'd offer them my virginity if they asked for it, my sanity be damned.

Incidentally if this were a Call of Cthulhu campaign, the much-maligned fork would likely be Mahiro's anchor to reality. In game terms, he would probably regain some SAN points (1d3 tops), just because he's been deluding himself that it's actually effective in keeping the Crawling Chaos at bay. :P

Aside from the usual carbonated sweetness? Things that Mankind Should Not Know (tm).
Incidentally, its looking like we're going to get another Nyarlathothepian visitor this episode. I would have prefered Nyarue from the flash series though.

Right now, I'm dying to cross over Nyaruko with every series in existence, just because of the chaos or nothing that will ensue.
Magical Lyrical Nyaruko! Mobile Alien Nyarudam! Nyaruko x Os-Uuchuujin! I have 0 SAN!

Nyarutaki 03 - This too, is all Decake's fault
I was thinking this episode was a little light on the Kamen Rider references, but the ones it did have took the cake. (Pun only partially intended.) If there's a Decadriver cake, I wonder if there's a K-Touch cake at that store? And with Decade's recent return to starring with Super Hero War, it feels quite fitting. The Shantak Final Form Ride was also gold. They even had the logo show up when he transformed. I see they went for something Agito-like. Wonderful program we have here. Kamen Rider aside, the episode was still great. The interaction between Nyarko and Cuko was marvelous. (I don't know how they'd have babies, but I kind of want to see.) That scene in the infirmary was great. I wonder if we'll be seeing Nyaro again. His reign as a "villain" was far too short - I feel there's plenty more gags this guy could be used for. And of course, Kana Asumi referenced another one of her roles with wanting to call Mahiro "Nii-nii". So much good stuff in only half an hour. My top, favorite show of the season is right here. Given the themes of madness and toku mania, a Nyarko/Akibaranger crossover sounds like a perfect idea... I should get on that. |

Episode 3 started off really slow, I thought. The interactions between the perpetually aroused Kuuko and the unwilling Nyaruko just aren't funny to me. They get really repetitive, really fast. However, the episode picked up steam again in the second half, and got right back on track with awesome scene after awesome scene. The ending was golden. I knew she'd say something, but she sure pulled out all the stops.

Cuuko serves a single purpose, albeit a funny one: She is there to illuminate Nyarko's staggering lack of self-awareness, and to once and for all put to rest any lingering sympathy we might have for her unrequited crush on Mahiro. Even when Cuuko and she are word-for-word re-enacting a previous scene between herself and Mahiro (with her in Mahiro's place), she doesn't give off even the slightest spark of recognition or reflection, and when it's over, she's learned absolutely nothing from it. Nyarko is blissfully stupid, and I love her for it
Not that Cuuko isn't funny; she has some great moments. I cracked up when she acted as Shantak's birthing coach, but the best was when she said it was her safe day. Although the fact that Nyarko didn't correct her with a sharp "why would that even matter??" makes me question if Cuuko's dream of bearing Nyarko's children might actually be possible. I don't know (or care to know) the biology involved. Either way, Nyarko is still the best reason to keep watching, in my opinion. I can see Cuuko's antics wearing thin if she's overused. By the way, check out some of the assorted items strewn across Mahiro's floor in the last act. What are those two doing there? |
