I think Cinque is just genuine and earnest rather than naive. Luckily, all the girls seem to be likewise, which is why despite his rampant flag-setting, the closest thing to drama we see between them is Eclair's "SO JELLY" tsundere reaction, and that's played for comedy.
And I will laugh heartily if Nanami/Gaul develops as a kind of genderflip of Cinque/Eclair (Sinclair?). |

They already have methinks. Unlike Eclair's objection in summoning Cinque, Gaul's problem wasn't about not liking Nanami, and more about not wanting to be petted so casually, which is an understandable position. He has no problems being friendly with Nanami from what we've seen, right up to that brofist.

Note about Nana Mizuki and Dog Days, and how she's literally all over the shop, singing songs and voicing characters designed for her (oh and Nanami is a blatant expy of herself).
I think Tsuzuki just went, "Okay, Mizuki-san, thanks for my car, house and fat pay check from Nanoha, I want to make some new anime that all whacky, so what do you want to do with it?" And so we have Rico and Nanami and singing. All that's missing now is Nanami breaking out into enka and we can call it a Nana-chan idol anime.

DOG DAYS' 05 - あっぱれ! 天下御免
Every anime has an Edo episode if it runs long enough. Or this world's equivalent of Edo. I see that set enough when Toei uses it, and it's inescapable in anime form. Still, sheds some light on Galette's culture. A seafaring people who prefer cats to dogs, and have Edo right next door. Galette is definitely the Japan in this scenario. And aside from a few last minute cameos, Galette and its Heroine carried the episode, something that would never have happened last season. Nanami is quite friendly with Galette royalty. And almost everyone else. That scene with Violet alone. Brioche's older brother was pretty cool, too, but the Princess Samurai totally stole the show. A bit overkill, with them using weapons previously only brought out in wartime to eliminate a common wild animal, but they were being showy about it. And really close, too. MilLeo is the original pairing from this show - though when you think about it, Millhi and Cinque is kind of odd. Dogs and monkeys are said to not get along very well. Great episode, with some really cool action sequences (Nanami's pole-jump comes to mind). Now, Pastillage's turn to show us what their culture is like, |

This was a nice kimono out & about episode.
The samurai guy was a nice, just got into unintended trouble. Catching those robbers was just an additional bonus. This kinda reminded me of Hakuouki... Probably because of the setting and clothes.

Well nice to go and meet D'arquin's older brother. A pretty good guy not too bothered by how he got jumped like that . Clearly is quite a fan of both siblings with how happy she was to see him. On another positive shortening D'arquin to Hina will save a lot of typing time, thanks a ton there Isuka .
Not enough Eclair (or at all), but at least the Princesses stealing the show with that super move was pretty entertaining. Totally just went for the flashy show. Well suppose that crazy creature deserved some over the top reaction for all that it ended up doing. Some good fun including Nanami just jumping Viole after her plan was approved .

Yesss! This episode is exactly what I wanted to watch. It showed off more of the Fiore world and it's inhabitants along with the local wild life. We need more of this, but of course with a nice healthy does of story plot too.
I had a nagging itch in the back of my mind that our nameless dog samurai resembled another one of our cute cast. I guess there's always a bigger fish in the sea. Princess Leo and Milhi are rather...silly. They truly have a sister's bond between them. I personally am not digging Leo's hairstyle at the end of this episode it just looked silly. I wonder what other animal-human variation types are still left out there. Quote:
We need an episode full dedicated to the side characters. Violet, Rico, Vert, Leo's personal maid (i forget her name), the two male generals.
