Note the boot phase in the anime, vwhere the Five senses are loadd. Pain is still present in SAO, as cuts and physical injuries will cause pain.

And then there's the deeper pain of the heart, which is strongly felt despite being just a game, supposedly.

So how many people created Sword Art Online? It's not just the one guy, was it?

It wasn't clear how many employees worked at Argus, but the core of SAO, the Cardinal system, was created by Kayaba alone IIRC.

Just went and watched the 1st episode - looking good thus far

Judging from the 'preview', next Episode is 'Aria of the Starless Night'. The death part is still a major part of the series like the LNs, so that's a plus

Good luck to them. If you count the ME, SAO's timeline's pretty messed up. Not really consistent with the accounts of those times in the novels. You'd have to wonder what path Asuna and Kirito's relationship followed.

Are you asking if it's still on going? Because if you are, then yes, it is.

Check Baka Tsuki for the English translations. And yeah, the manga is pretty bad in comparison to the anime and light novels.

Yeah, the manga even went as far as
Spoiler for manga:

One thing I noticed was when Klein tried to call a GM, it showed the same avatar as Kayaba's "Hollow Blood Robe".

Too bad they didn't go with the novel's description of what GMs looked like during Beta Test.

... oh wow.

Yeah, it's just too bad. I love Kayaba's "Hollow Blood Robe", though. ;p

As far as I know, it doesn't contradict with the information in the light novel. For all we know that announcement could have been recorded beforehand. If I had to interpret it, it could indicate and emphasis that Heathcliff isn't Kayaba, when he later turns from the strongest player into the strongest demon king.

Yeah, that is amusing. I'm sure the GM message is just a recording. Should be easy to do so, and it would throw suspicion off Heathcliff for people who never read the light novel

Loving the episode big time. next episode better be great, for that's the first action scene in the anime. Lots of expectation for episode 2.

On another note:
Heheh, some dude in the ep1 discussion thread just commented on how stupid it is to PvP, saying few would dare to PvP.
Boy would he be surprised...

Just finished reading volume 1, and the romance was the best part of it. I'm not by all means an romance 'buff'', but this was so awesome, that I can't help but love their relationship.

When I reached chapter 17, I was like ''WTF THEY GOT MARRIED???''. I simply loved everything about this Light Novel.

Anyway, I have a question for those that read it all: What's the timeline on the novel? I read that Vol.2 were sidestories or something? I am not going to read past Vol.1 (I'm just curious), so try to not spoil it too much if you can thx

Yeah, volume 2 mainly consists of side stories during Kirito and co.'s time in SAO.

Glad you liked the romance! It's going to be awesome in anime form. :>

There are three side stories set between the start of the game and the 75th Floor fight, including one on how Kirito got his second sword and another about the Black Cats. The fourth is a mini adventure during Kirito and Asuna's honeymoon that has bearing on the rest of the series.

Then there are side stories not collected in Vol 2, the most notable being an account of clearing the First Floor.

If you can though, read Morning Dew Girl in volume 2 at least. If you have a heart, you'll be pleased.

Hey guys! I'm new to this part of the forums, but I started reading the Light Novel a few days ago after watching the first episode of the anime. I'm currently in the middle of Volume 3, chapter 3, but I need something to get me through. From what you have been saying, Volume 3 and 4 are awesome, but I need to know when Asuna is going to be waking up and when Kirito and his sister/cousin are going to realize they met in-game
