- Yui has her birthday in November

In Japan, school starts somewhere in April. S1E2 tells us that, at the time Yui joins the Light Music Club (roughly two weeks after she starts high school), all the girls are 15 years old. Though I don't think Yui's exact age isn't mentioned, she has to be the same age as the other three, considering she's in the same class with them and never had to redo a year in previous schools.

Since Mio's birthday is in January, she's already 15 when she enters high school. Mugi, Ritsu and Yui are still 15 when they enter high school, so when they have their birthdays, they will all be 16, with Mio finishing last when it's finally her turn.

So, from oldest to youngest, we get:

Mugi - Ritsu - Yui - Mio.

Mio is half a year younger than Mugi, not a full year. it still makes her the youngest.

And was it confirmed that all of them were 15 back then?

Do take note that, unless I missed it somewhere, the manga does not list their age. Still, I think it's reasonable to assume that it's true. And like I said, despite the lack of evidence, I'm assuming Yui is also 15, given that they're all in the same year of high school.

I'm... I'm getting confused... Mio has to be the oldest because if she were younger and to be born in January, like Kitten said, she would be a year younger than everyone else. It seems more likely that she started the school year having just turned 16 a few months beforehand.

After watching episode 21, I've been wondering... When Ritsu puts her headband on, where does the hair go?

I mean like.. If I put a headband by brushing back my bangs, it flairs up on the top (or droops to the back) which Ritsu's don't o_O Do they just disappear into her head of awesome and are re-summoned every time the headband is removed.

I had long bangs too in the past, almost of the same lengh as my hair which was almost reaching the butt... only that I never was wearing hairband, it stayed back on its own. Though now I do have my bangs back, of course NOT that long

So yeh, if the bangs are long enough, you won't see them when they are put back.

Well Ritsu is much more cool this season than the first one.

I can't even imagine K-On without Ritsu, her attitude is a font for jokes and nice situations.

That's weird though because her side bangs are the same regardless of whether she has her headband on or off... It's the short bangs that fall in front of her forehead I'm talking about xD

I think Ritsu was pretty cool the first season too. She's just more of a joker in this season lol.

I love how they brought out her mature side more often (which, surprisingly, is /quite/ mature). She might be one of the more mature characters in the series... Afterall, Ritsu's always the one to first step in to make someone feel better, or bring them back down to earth when they go over the top (unless she's the one going over the top, haha).

Except when she has to act as the club president to get important things for the club (like an AC or file a request to use the auditorium stage).

In Ritsu's case, though, I think her having a younger brother to take care of definitely helped her being a bit more mature than Mio or Yui.

Mio understandable being the only child. Calling her parents papa and mama....ow~

ANd i guess i'm quite agreed with bloppyblue. Her bangs seemed rather short in episode 21.
