Gundam AGE General Discussion Thread

I think there's a consensus that they should've cut the school arc and the fardain arc in favor of the beef of the Asemu arc.

the anime could've been more interesting had they completely started with the endgame of Flit's arc.

But it's kinda ironic that AGE has been close to UC like X was, and both were poorly received.

If you're talking about Flit, he's still the lead of the show, if not "also starring". By now, I think the generations concept increases the heroes count every generation, not replacing the previous one entirely.

After the first arc, Flit is more like Bruce in Batman Beyond. They're still important main characters of their respective show, but it's not wrong to consider them as sidekicks to Asem/Kio and Terry, respectively.

I found X to be way better than Wing and G in my opinion, the only thing which I found it lacked was memorable mecha designs other than the leads

Don't know where to post this. It doesn't seem to fit into Spoilers & Speculations, which seemed to be future-centered.

Anyway, I've listened to the 52-minute Drama CD, and it's set in on the eve of Asem's wedding, which took place on his home colony, Tordia.

Spoiler for summary in brief, with many details omitted:

Name romanizations may be wrong since I forgot the official translations. Some things may not be in exact order.

1. Marcil & Shawee arrived. They have both graduated from uni. Mashil is going to be a an engineer in developing MS, while Shawee is going to become a lawyer. They met with Asem & Romary and chatted.

2. Iricia & Wilna arrived. One of them has resigned from the military (can't remember who, but I think it's Wilna). Iricia is desperately looking for a man and hopes that the high ranking acquaintances of Flit are attending the wedding so that she can hook up with one . Met up with Asem & Romary as well. Unfortunately, according to Asem, the wedding was kept at a small scale, and Flit didn't invite his colleagues save his old friends, dashing the hopes of Iricia . Btw, in the Drama CD version, both Asem & Romary's parents were there even though they were not shown in the anime save Emily.

3. Arisa & Markks arrived. Dique will be arriving on the actual day itself. Arisa bumped into Marcil, who found her cute.

4. Flit & Emily were talking in another room. They talked about Asem, then shifted the topic to their younger days. Flit then apologized on how much he had been away from the family and that it has been hard on Emily. He then thanked her. Emily said she had already expected this when she married Flit. Flit then said he loved her, to which Emily reciprocated.

5. Meanwhile, in the room where Asem, Romary, Iricia, and Wilna were talking, Iricia went off to find Shawee after finding out that he's going to be a lawyer . Arisa & Markks arrived. After some talking, Romary didn't feel well suddenly. Asem then asked her to go to where Emily was and lie down and rest. Marrks then asked about Yunoa, whom he had fallen for while previously hospitalized in a hospital (or medical center) where she worked at.

6. Romary entered the room where Flit & Emily were in. Emily asked whether she's alright since she looked pale. Flit said if needed, they can pushed the timing of the wedding later. Romary declined nervously. Throughout the whole scene, Romary was nervous whenever Flit talked to her . Emily sensed it and hinted at Flit to leave. Flit made an excuse that he needed to contact the Big Ring and then left.

7. Emily then talked to Romary while she rested, and asked her whether she was still feeling nervous around Flit. Emily then told her that that's just the way he is on the outside, and how kind and gentle Flit actually was. When she was giving birth to Asem, she had a difficult pregnancy, and Flit had stayed with her throughout the entire 8 hours (can't remember, I think it was 8 hours) grabbing her hand. Subsequently, because of that experience, when she was giving birth to Yunoa, Flit cleared his calendar and took 3 days' leave, though in the end Yunoa's birth was smooth. Romary wondered whether she and Asem can have such a good husband-wife relationship as them. Emily then said they definitely can and left the room(can't remember for what though).

8. Iricia found Shawee alone and came onto him quite strongly. Shawee rejected her advances and said he likes men. Marcil confesses to Arisa and was rejected. Marrks confessed to Yunoa and was rejected. It was later revealed that Shawee was lying and apparently was carrying a torch for Romary.

9. Flit went to where Asem was and had a father-son talk. Asem then asked what made Flit marry Emily. Flit said that while on his quest to defeat the Vagans, people around him left (or were no longer around him) gradually, all except Emily, who continued supporting him in difficult times. When he realized that, he proposed. He then threw the question back at Asem about Romary. Asem said that Romary was someone he wants to protect and made him want to become stronger to protect her. One of them (can't remember who) then commented that this should be something discussed over a drink and that it was embarrassing. They then both laughed.

10. Emily came with a look of frantic and said that Romary was nowhere to be found. Asem had an idea where she might be.

11. Asem arrived at their previous school, the MS club building to be precise, and sure enough, Romary was there reminiscing. Romary then said that she came here to get courage. And she properly confessed her feelings to Asem.

12. Short epilogue on the minor characters and the wedding day itself. End

Those are some interesting stuff. Glad to hear about Emily and Flit's marriage and bow that there's more to Flit than angry commander vengeance guy role he kept being presented in the anime.

I still wonder why they didn't bother putting Flit in that short wedding scene in the anime though. It shouldn't be too much trouble to put him there.

Frankly speaking, the whole Gen 2 epilogue episode should have been just about all this. Would have been miles better than what we actually got.

AGE just announced to be airing on local television here in Singapore every Saturday morning. Given all the promotion the kits have been receiving thus far, hopefully it'll pick up with local kids. I'm really afraid they might dub it, though. Guess I'll know on Saturday.

Well, they gonna dubbed with English. Anyway, Malaysia already aired AGE since the month of May (English Dubbed as well but the dub voices seems came straight from Animax Asia English Dub) but I only watched one episode which introduce Decil and his Gundamjacking antic.

Hmm, so they're using "official" English dubs? Didn't know Bandai did those.

Having just arrived home for summer break, I just learned about it from one of the model kit boxes surprisingly (yay advertising).

Still haven't bothered to watch it yet. And it's English? I'm a bit surprised since I estimated it was going to be a Malay dub since that's what they did with 00 some years back.

Didn't 00 received an English Dub when it aired Singapore as well? I heard it was different from the ones used in the US.

Watched a couple of minutes of the English dub yesterday. Thankfully it seems to be the official American dub, but it's still a dub nonetheless. Not too cringe-worthy, but I'd rather watch it in Japanese still.

iirc bandai pretty much uses the same va's for all Gundam english dubs in NA.

I can't watch this vid at the moment because of region lock, which likely means he can't either I assume since we are of the same region.

There's no such thing as an official AGE US Dub at the moment, especially after Bandai Entertainment died for the most part. But then again, a local English dub done around here would be quite noticable usually, it's hard to make a mistake when comparing them since they sound so different.

I think I really need to watch the one being aired over here in Malaysia, its supposed to be in English and I wont be surprised if the English dub version being aired here and Singapore are the same ones.
