Actually, when Deen's version came out, HD still wasn't that big a thing. So it might partly be that.

This doesn't have much of anything to do with quality, though, considering it's just the design sheets rather than the actual anime's content.

I doubt that's the reason, since I'm pretty sure I've seen more saturated blonde hair in pre-HD animes. Like early Naruto episodes.

I think they were going for a cute image of all the Heroines together and smiling...only it comes off here as extremely creepy

.

Maybe on their own it wouldn't have been as bad, but together it's a bit much
