Haha, I liked this bad ending though, it was something new and unexpected. In the end Shuusuke and the teacher go back to the Sakura tree and he notices something new growing, like new blood has been spilled. Then he notices the crow and wonders if it's Asami

But like I said, I don't know if the game is just screwing with us... the two of them simply disappeared, who knows if something that crazy actually happened.

If something like that really happened, it (the game) would feel kind of similar to a show like Air or Kanon... A tad bit of supernatural to real life.

Or course, it probably is more of a way for the game to go: "Go back and replay"

Sana doesn't have what it takes to deal with a firecracker like Asami. That's Shuu territory imo. Sana is more the "I'm here for you" type, like he was with Nanaka.

Lets face it, Shuu got the best paths. Think about it: Hinako, Asami AND Nanaka? That's just awesome. I can't really judge Yuzuki or Aoi, but Shuri lost her twincest appeal now that's she's on Sana's path The loli and the crazy girls are my 3 favorites. Shuu's a lucky man.

Well, VG Sana looks more manly than the anime counterpart.
If we have Nanaka x Asami clash in Shuusuke's path, in Sana's path we have Shuuri x Nanaka clash.. So it's not really that disappointing But of course nobody lives up to Asami's level of atrocities..
More catfight is better.. I could somewhat imagine about Yuzuki's story, but what about Aoi? Is she really have some of importance to the story at any whatsoever rate..?

The limited edition comes with a CD with all the BGM and the short versions of both OPs and character songs. Umm, it also comes with some kind of picture book that is an item in the game, but I don't know what it is exactly yet (I think it's similiar to Haruka's book in kiminozo or something like that). You also get a different cover art.

Deluxe or DX edition means a second release for PS2 console. But it's usually meant for those popular on PC and had the h-scene removed. There are sometimes cases of re-releases of PS2 games. But I don't think it will add more story, probably just more merchandise.

Having all girls scenario for each protagonist is a pushing it bit too much. All I need is Asami scenario on Sana's.

Some thoughts after finishing all 3 paths in Shuusuke's side

Spoiler for HUGE spoilers, please read only after you've finished Shuusuke's side or are never going to play the game:

Shuusuke

One thing you'll immediately notice about Shuusuke is he has kind of a protector's complex. He wants to protect everyone around him, and sometimes he gets annoyed when others won't let him (ie: Nanaka). He is actually quite an emotional character, and there are a few times when his emotions get the best of him and he just bursts out or leaves out of anger.


Nanaka's chapter

Built up really well, but felt anti-climatic at the end. I found the Sana vs Shuusuke part at the start quite interesting where Shuusuke gets jealous of the bond between Sana and Nanaka, and the scene with Nanaka giving the key back to Sana was sad (to me, it felt like she was denying their entire childhood together now that they've both grown up), but strangely satisfying (You're out Sana, it's MY turn !! ).

The revelation that Nanaka was protecting Shuusuke all these years by being cold to him and staying away from him was done well, but the fact Shuusuke forgot about the fire was a bit too convenient and felt cheap (although amnesia is a well documented effect of Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome. He was the one who busted into Nanaka's house to save her, and got a glimpse of the arsonist along the way). The build up to the end was good, with Shuusuke finally remembering and Nanaka opening up to him after all these years, but the final showdown with the arsonist was a bit disappointing. I mean, no CG, no portrait, nothing ?! If the punks in Hinako's path get CGs, I don't understand why the arsonist didn't. Plus the arsonist's motivations were explained with a few paragraphs with no BGM, which felt ugh... Still, seeing Nanaka refuse to leave Shuusuke and the temple and telling him she wants to be the one to protect the things that are important to her... it was satisfying. Overall, it was almost a reversed relationship where even though Shuusuke constantly wants to protect Nanaka, Nanaka is the one who protects him (taking care of him when he faints, smacking the arsonist in the head with the fire extinguisher, putting out the fire.. etc).

Finally, even though I knew this was coming, it still felt weird... I think my mind was so used to Sana and Nanaka in the anime that even when I was playing Shuusuke's side with Nanaka I was still imagining it was Sana the whole time

Hinako's chapter

Hinako actually fits with Shuusuke surprisingly well. Shuusuke's all brawn and surprisingly immature at times, Hinako's all brain and surprisingly mature at times. He can play the role of protector (like he wants to) and she can play the role of commander (Shuusuke, I choose you ! ). I loved the scene where Hinako comes into the school and helps Shuusuke take his test, and when she takes care of him while he's sick, which was one of the best scenes that show off her maturity despite her age. Plus, who can resist this:

Still, Hinako's path felt like it lacked content, and the final kidnapping scene wasn't all that believable. But oh man, Shuusuke was GAR here. 6 on 1 after being knifed in the back, and he still kicked ass. Shuuri running in with the police holding a bat so she could fight too also made me feel the depth of the bond between the twins. Overall, I think they could have done better with this path, but there were definitely some good moments along the way. Note Shuusuke plays the physical protector role in Hinako's path, but quite insensitive emotionally.


Asami's chapter

This is by far my favorite path so far. WOW. This was the first path I finished, and house trashing, hair cutting Asami is still the best character so far. I was engrossed by her story the whole way, and her bad ending was the best bad ending out of the 3 (although Nanaka's bad ending was decent too - the temple burns down and her body is never found-- burnt to a crisp ?)

Basically, in Asami's mind, if she isn't better than others, she doesn't deserve love. This all stems from the fact she was always compared to Nanaka by their family ever since they were young (they're cousins and of the same age), and never felt she measured up. In her eyes, even her own parents liked Nanaka more. This is worsened by the fact her parents are not around much, and she resorted to working hard in school and winning prizes just to get attention from them. It's gotten to the point that she even analyzed her own name in Kanji and interpreted it as her parent's disappointment and lack of love for her.

So if she isn't better than Nanaka, she doesn't deserve love from Shuusuke. No matter how much Shuusuke reassures her, she'll always feel he'll eventually leave her if she doesn't beat out Nanaka. But she can't beat Nanaka, so the only other way is probably to eliminate her. That's why it's quite likely things did get violent in the bad ending.... Even after the fallout from the hair cutting incident, where her mom tells her she should have never been born and her dad tells her he didn't want such a disgraceful child then leaves her alone for work, she still won't call Shuusuke because she feels she doesn't have the right to see him, despite being in obvious need of emotional support.

Honestly, Asami is not a bad person. She feels horrible for trying to cut Nanaka's hair, and she doesn't even understand how she could do something like that. I feel really bad for her. I was always competitive with myself but tried my best not to be with others, so it's hard for me to imagine what it's like to always be living up to someone else's standards and never able to reach it. Still, it's not that hard to understand a need for perfection will only lead to unhappiness. Plus she has never had really good friends to support her since she moved around a lot, and her parents are never around. In the end, she learns to be happy with what she has, and to come out of her emotional corner and stop constantly competing with everyone else. Note Shuusuke's role here is less of a physical protector and more of an emotional one, reassuring her and helping her emotionally along the way.

There are still a few things I don't really understand from Asami's path, particularly anything related to the Sakura tree... I hope they actually explain that some time and it's not just crazy rambling from Asami... Also note Asami's theme (the stability/instability combo) is also one of the most interesting BGM in the game in my opinion.



Overall, I would rate the paths on Shuusuke's side Asami >>>> Nanaka > Hinako. I'm not going to rate the game just yet since I haven't finished it. I've also put some videos of the endings on youtube, just search for it there.

For those who are going to play the game, just remember the game is quite different from the anime. Characters develop differently, different things happen.. etc. I haven't finished the game yet, but it's probably best not to link the two at all (ie: some mystery that is yet unsolved in the anime may not actually be solved in the game because it might not even have happened in the game... stuff like that)

I see that the game always tries to have a climax before the end, even if it isn't so necessary. Nanaka and Asami have something set up for them, but Hinako seems normal so the game inserted a kidnapping.

Bad ends for the win~... kind of... At least it's interesting, in a dark way.

As expected, Asami's horribly twisted, but I'll put the blame on those damn parents.
I already noted that theme of her's. Quite interesting, yes.
Oh, how I hate that aspect of certain people (like my parents *sigh*). The ones that always compare you to others and mention how you can't beat them or need to work harder. There was an example of that in Fruits Basket too.
Personally, it's happened to me too, but maybe I'm just emotionless to certain things or I got used to it, because I never turned into a twisted mess of a human. Of course, I ended up hating the things that was subject to comparison... Oh, how trauma goes...

Nanaka... Not much to say... Er... let's see... Yay for their happiness?


Asami's an interesting character, but if I knew her in real life, I'd face the other direction and run, yep...
I hope none of this sounds like a rambling. I'm a tad bit pissed off right now...

Wow it only took u 3 days to get all of Shuusuke's ending. Now I just have to wait till u beat all of Sa's pathsn give us the Spoilers n i'll be happy. Also what happened in Hinako's bad ending. Thanks for the Spoilers.

Asami's an interesting character, but if I knew her in real life, I'd face the other direction and run, yep...

I know exactly what you mean. I feel really bad for her, but her actions are a bit too frightening for me to honestly say I would approach her in real life and try to help her. She is really kind otherwise though, volunteering to help teach kids every week and taking care of stray cats (she is really cute when she takes care of them). One could argue helping kids is just another way to be better than Nanaka, but she genuinely likes animals because they don't judge her even if she's not perfect. I think that's what attracted Shuusuke to her in the first place.

Wow it only took u 3 days to get all of Shuusuke's ending. Now I just have to wait till u beat all of Sa's pathsn give us the Spoilers n i'll be happy. Also what happened in Hinako's bad ending. Thanks for the Spoilers.

Spoiler for Hinako's bad ending:

Shuusuke couldn't find her after the kidnapping, and he blames himself because he's responsible for her and the kidnapping was because of him. The guilt eats away at him to the point he suffers from severe insomnia, despite Shuuri telling him it's not his fault. The next day, the police do find Hinako, but she doesn't come back to school because of the psychological trauma she went through. Shuuri wants to give Hinako a warm welcome when she does come back, but Shuusuke feels so guilty he doesn't care if Hinako ever comes to school again because then he would have to see her. He essentially runs away from it all and can't sleep every night from the guilt.

A few days later in homeroom Shuusuke finds out Hinako quit the high school and went back to her elementary school, and never wants to see anyone from the high school ever again. When he hears this, the pain compounds because now he's guilty about running away and not wanting to see her, and will never be given a chance to apologize again. He then realizes how big of an impact Hinako had on him, and even though they live in the same town and breath the same air, now all he can do now is hope she's doing well. All he can do is suffer the feelings of knowing he has lost someone dear to him.

Yep no problem, I have free time now since I have a couple of days to burn until my flight home. Hopefully I can finish another path before I leave.
