The best romance anime/manga you have ever seen/read
I am hoping to find a romance anime/manga that I will absolutely love and I hope that your favourites could become one of my favourites!! But please, no harems for me, they aren't exactly my cup of tea...
The romances I have seen so far are: Myself;yourself Skip beat (I have seen the anime and have just decided to read the manga) Neo angelique abyss (I know it was harem, but this is how I decided it wasn't for me) La corda d'oro (same as above) Hanbun no tsuki ga noboru sora And more, but I can't think of them at the minute... I am fine with ecchi, yuri/shoujo-ai, yaoi/shounen-ai, horror etc Thanks for any suggestions |

Best romance anime for me:
Kaichou wa Maid-sama! - #1 for me, though it was a bit too long for my tastes but still great nonetheless Kobato - this one is short of #1 spot for me because there wasn't too much "romance" in terms of hugging, kissing, etc but I love the story and the "romance"-type style it had almost made me cry T_T

Manga:
Kimagure Orange Road (old school, yeah, I know) Little House with an Orange Roof (this one is mature romance) Kare Kano (everybody's favorite, more or less) Koi Kaze (If you okay with incest story. Please note that I am NOT a fan of incest AT ALL , but this got decent story ) |

Pre-2000:
Kimagure Orange Road is my top suggestion. Then, Maison Ikkoku if you want to see the most mature work by Rumiko Takahashi. It's coming from someone who usually have a low opinion of her works. Last edited by Sheba; 2011-08-03 at 06:11. |

If you don't mind shoujo-ai then I'll do another promotion for Kashimashi, and for something slightly different there's Diamond Daydreams. It plays out more like a drama than a romance, but most of the stories center around couples anyway.

I completely, 100% agree with Dengeki Daisy. If you like that one, check out the other manga by Motomi Kyousuke because all of her stuff is awesome. Library Wars:Love & War is also an adorable romance manga. It has an anime, too, but it's less romance-focused. As for anime, Cardcaptor Sakura isone of my favorite romance ones.

For a more light-hearted romance series, try Amagami SS, not exactly harem as it initially seems.
If you favour a romance series with drama in it, Kimi ga Nozomu Eien or Koi Kaze may be a good start. For Mangas, perhaps Suzuka might do, and of course, Ichigo 100% is definitely seconded. |

To this day, the romance manga/anime I liked most is Lovely Complex, namely because of the originality of the characters and the scenario (a really tall girl and a really short guy), not to mention the characters looked mostly normal rather than bishounen, and I had quite a number of good laughs as well. A romance with a bit of comedy for good measure is what makes this one pretty special to me.
