This ep kept the ships afloat with even more fuel than ever.
fanarts inbound. Sucks that there probably won't be another season. I wonder if the implications/teases are also the same in the novel. For once I'll be giving an ep a score without having any second thought at all. Thoroughly enjoyed the payload delivered even if it's blatant teasing. |

Let the ship set sail !
But really this episode was all Houtarou x Eru. About the only person seen otherwise was the as usual blocked out sister. This episode was pretty fun though, those two are really getting self-conscious around each other. Couple times Chitanda did her usual bit of getting way too close and both reacted pretty strongly to that. Of course also fun was them tying in a future engagement since Chitanda asked Houtarou to go with her to light incense for her Uncle. So the date is on! Was good fun. Houtarou got fired up to win the game with Chitanda and by the end they had gotten so absorbed in it that they had forgotten the point . Even more hilarious was Houtarou seemingly being right with that theory. Rather impressive how far they came with the theory from a simple announcement. Anyways really enjoyed this one. Just have fun watching Houtarou and Chitanda together and this episode was entirely that.

Poutanda NEEDS a soundclip.
That was great fun. I feel as if we're drifting from a centralized point as the series comes to an end, but man they're still so deliciously amusing.

Not sure about others, but the ship has begun sailing a long time ago for me
Those screenshots, it's ever so vexing.....in a good way. The fact that their mouths are just centimetres away from each other, their respective breath within hearing range, and the oozing smexy vibe plays upon your mind and with it your imagination for the rest of the day.

The implication is that Student X revealed who Person Y is to the police after being called up. Cheers.

Spoiler for Ep 19:
No way in hell was that 25 minutes! The vast majority of the episode is a single scene conversation between two characters, they cut the ED to fit it all in, and when it was over I still went "what, already?" We don't know how many levels removed from the gangster person Y was (if any), but yes, the ending implies that X's information either helped build the case against or led directly to the culprit. Meaning that Oreki's deductions were frighteningly accurate. That's why he suddenly remembered what the game was about: He was trying to prove that he wasn't really very talented at this. Chitanda won the game. |

This episode was quite good regarding how Eru and Houtarou went that far, not from a "mystery/odd case" curiosity challenge perspective, but indeed with their interactions.
Frankly, Eru's "new" reactions are evidence how she narrowed Houtarou's habits, so she has appropriate expectations from what he can deduce whatsoever. It was particularly funny how Eru "countered" Houtarou left and right with such faces, quite unexpected from her (I was wondering if she wasn't influenced by Mayaka there), to which Houtarou tried to keep his best to find something fancy, despite he was basically spot on. The fun fact is that his theory wasn't even far fetched and fits well with the few "habits" japanese have for few things, like school announcements etc. I also appreciated that this episode had additional exposure, with the ending completely skipped. Instead, using Air on G string was an excellent idea, concluding Eru and Houtarou's interactions with a "natural" mood, sort of.

That was one of the most brilliant episodes yet that they could deduce so much from one announcement. Heavily reminds me of some Bakemonogatari episodes, it's just the 2 of them talking for 20 minutes in the same room and they manage to make it very engaging.
