I think a possible red flag about the quality of this show is that
Spoiler for Episode 1 spoiler:
That said to me that I should not take this show seriously.

Going through this episode...I'm kind of surprised the isekai boom ever happened. It wasn't terrible. But it wasn't all that good either. You can definitely see a lot of the cliches that became standard including good old truck-kun. But wow...the MC really is something.

Giving him an awesome voice was a valiant attempt at making him more likable. Not sure it really worked. But hey, it was worth the attempt.

Was certainly worth giving the first episode a look.

First off, it didn't work that well. But anyway, in the pre-aired second ep he mentions that, this being a completely different world with a different culture, things aren't really the same as they were back home. As a result, at times at least eroge one-liners that would come across as lame pick-up lines here can come across as unique and new there. Sort of like taking the jokes currently seen as overused and dull and telling them in the nineteenth century: suddenly the lame old jokes become hilarious and original. I don't think you should really take that as that big of an indicator of the character of the story or the people.

I wonder what was up with some of those teens he saved from truck-san that seemingly vanished? Could they have been reincarnated too ?

And what was the "promise" Paul broke to Zenith when he brought up how they promised to teach Rudy their respective specialty depending on their child's gender ?

Sorry; dynamic content not loaded. Reload?

I haven't seen an official listing of the number of episodes this season, but another cour has already been announced. We'll get at least 24 episodes when including the 2nd cour, if not more. It looks like split cours.

due pre-airing second episode is out there already too. I recommend watch it before making judgement, because it's more indicative.

Alos I think it's not really (I hope) spoiler if I said this is story about growing up from trash he was in previous life to actually decent person and if he is seems op, it's just because he didn't met real big fishes yet.

Not sure about Sugita being the "loser NEET" voice for the MC; reading the manga its just... not what I envisioned . Maybe someone like Seki Tomokazu, but eh, I got used to it.

Spoiler for slight spoilers, nothing specific, just how I felt when I read the manga:

It doesn't make itself original though. It was original and because masses liked it became tired cliche afterwards. That's isekai/tensei knowledge 101.

I think I prefer the cleaner imitations with the bland, non-repulsive MCs.

Sure choose your poison.

That said given you watch those you probably forgot things like character development exist. They never do that after all.

I thought this series got anime adaption very late
As it one of first isekai novel that got famous
And yet, many isekai series got anime adaption before this one

But when it really came out, it was worth waiting, I guess?
As I really like novel so I know I don't really worry about story. Unless they change plot
I think I got anime that I will wait to watch in this season

PS: Sugita voice is really weird, I knew instantly it was him.
The way he use it. I feel like I listen to Kyon all over again

I think there's a trope for this, where the tropes in a story are seen as overdone and unoriginal despite the fact that the story in question was one of the first, if not THE first, to do them. This is an old series, from right up when the isekai craze was just beginning to take form. Today it may look unoriginal but really as I understand it this series played a big role laying the groundwork for the genre.

People keep saying this series is old and sets up the isekai genre, but it looks like this is from light novels that started at the end of 2012. The isekai genre in anime has been around since the 1980's, if not earlier. It really picked up during the 2000's, and it was in full swing by 2010, with titles such as "Knight's & Magic" (2010), "Mondaiji-tachi ga Isekai Kara Kuru Sō Desu yo?" (2011), and "No Game No Life" (2012) all debuting before Mushoku Tensei. Heck, even an original OVA, "Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari" (2009), was made before this.

So while I do agree that the adaptation of this series took a bit longer than a lot of other series, I don't believe that it's that old.

People could argue that anime industry as a whole have a ton of isekai date back to old era
however Mushoku is no doubt one of the first biggest name that lead the current era of Isekai.

I can guarantee that the lore as a whole is VERY strong....
so it the type that need more episode than normal for thing to start become real big

Isekai itself may have been around since the 80s, yes, but the modern version of the genre didn't start until the late 2000s and early 2010s. Before that it was generally a much different game. The point is, it was there near the start and played a big role in establishing the tropes. It didn't create the tropes or introduce them to the genre, but it was still early on and both its take and its ultimate popularity played a big role in the development of the genre. At the very least, it's a little off to treat it as just another bit that does the exact same thing everything else does when it came around back when there really weren't that many in the "everyone else".

Iseakai as trope always existed. I mean Alice's Adventures in Wonderland or Guliver travels dates some two centuries back. But until MT there wasn't such thing as isekai genre. Even

If you look on stories you listed, you can clearly see they don't follow same conventions and tropes as modern isakai. Well except Knight and Magic that one is pretty close. I wouldn't be surprised if MT took some cues from it.

Most of the Isekai based Series that were released between 2009 to 2014 in some way or another had an unique style of story telling, but it was mainly series that were released since 2012 (like, Mushoku Tensei, Tsukimichi, Shield Hero, Arifureta; to name a few) that gained more popularity and created a big trend which turned into a boom for the Isekai Genre, that is going on even now (especially with all these Anime adaptations).

Out of all the series that thundrakkon mentioned, i think only "No Game No Life" was the one which gained a lot of popularity. "Knight's & Magic" while being popular didn't really live-up to its hype mainly because of slow pace and long gaps between LN releases (not to forget the big gap in WN updates). As for the others, not really sure about there popularity.
