I know i really look like dumb but is there a tutorial on how to use virtualdub?

I've tried to scan here, and other sites using google.. But still i don't get some useful info, well for a beginner i guess.. >.>

I know i shouldn't be doing this but I will try to explain vdub as simple as possible sorry no pictures
1) open a video file avi preferable so you don't have to deal with avisyth (won't explain basic of the basics)
2)have the times you where you want to start and where you want to stop already press ctrl g to pop up the search for times/frames (dont be confused when putting times down it goes minutes:seconds:milliseconds NOT hour:minutes:seconds)
3)the time line should got to the starting frame, press the 2nd to last button on the bottom menu (black arrow pointing left)
4)ctrl g again to insert the end time now and press the last button on the bottom menu
5)there should be two black markers that look like the buttons you pressed earlier to mark the times on the time line
6) file....export....image sequence
7)insert the folder of where you want everything to be saved (recommend making a new folder there are a lot of frames even in a 2 second segment)
save the pictures into whatever format floats your boat

Some advice dealing with frames, after getting the frames open them with somesort of picture gallery so you can use the arrows on the keyboard to navigate the pictures (it is a lot easier to see the duplicates...write down the duplicates on a piece of paper so you can erase them later) hope that helps and doesn't get me into trouble with the administrators if there are any questions pm me do not post on forum don't ask how to use avisyth it is way beyond me (i convert them to avi's)

So i should choose a .avi file? Is it alright if i choose a h264 or xvid file?
Coz i don't have utorrent.. Or should i get one?

xvid will work as well as long as you have the divx codec which you can get at the divx website as of h264 avisynth is your best bet which can be downloaded and explained on the first page of the forum (i don't deal with avisynth as mentioned i will convert my files to .avi saving myself a headache)

Oh i tried making somethin like this a while back..

I don't know if it's correct but what i do is i open first the bg i want in imageready then i also open the .gif i want to put in the bg.. Yeah open the 2 files..


Then in the gif, particularly the animation window click the arrow in the upper right corner then hit copy frame..

Go back to the bg, i click again the arrow in the upper right corner of the animation window then hit paste frames..

I think it should appear in the bg

I can't really go on with the specific details coz it's been months since i make something like that..

Oh great.. If yah want to move the gif anywhere in the sig, i think you can do that in PS, just hit the move tool (v) and drag it anywhere in the sig

Is not that simple, conciderate that the gifs itself is a whole set of individual layers.

And i know it really took some time, and yah have to position it well..

I had question. I was making a sig and when I was about to save it, it won't let me save it as JPEG and only let me save as .PNG. Now, I need JPEG so I can resize the file size and it's not letting me.....any idea why? Also, is there a way you can resize a .PNG?

--> Using PS CS btw.

^ I use the same, and that's never happened, and yes you can save as PNG 8, but you may have some color loss.

It's just letting me save as PNG. I think it's probably the render I got because I tried one of the renders I made and it's working.
