I'm inclinced to believe that Kyoto Animation = Rule Breaker in moe tournaments.

Well... she did pretty bad on J-Saimoe (but truth be told, a elimination contest is much more unfair than a round-robin one).

Fate was runner-up in 2006 but she had no luck in Saimoe 2008.

*Anyone remembered 2006 Saimoe??? Almost "Haruhi" s characters were in
the same group.(it was very hilarious).Haruhi might be champion if she
was in the other group.

Rika won Saimoe 2007, and was eliminated in rd. 2 Saimoe 2008.

Kagami lost rd. 3 last year, and won this year.

And as Bathory mentioned, Fate nearly won it all in 2006, but four years in the JSaimoe circuit and no longer loli,(Japs and their lolis...) really kills your chance to win again. I think loli-Fate 2009 will put her back in the spotlight.

The unpredictability of JSaimoe is astounding.

Now, 63 matches await each. All that is left now is to do battle. With a immensely elite field, many questions remain to be answered.

Is Clannad the new dominance in Saimoé, or does that feat still belong to Hayate no Gotoku?

Can old-timer Cardcaptor Sakura actually compete with the new girls?

Could Haruhi Suzumiya finally get that elusive Saimoé tiara, or will China champion Konata Izumi stop her very idol? [EMPHASIS ADDED]

Will Suiseiseki bring Rozen Maiden back from the void to win her third title, or will Shana join her greatest rival as a multi-champion?

WOW, Minty, you sure nailed it back then. Konata - Haruhi.

By the way, by moderator rules, there have been some additional rules for this particular thread.

General Rules:
  • Absolutely no campaign posts allowed.[Colorized for emphasis]
This includes posts containing ANY campaign verbiage whether in whole or in part. Contributing to the debate is encouraged, provided you do NOT add "VOTE ABCD!!!" (or similar to the post itself). Simply rebutting another's post or opinion with "XYZ sucks" is totally unacceptable.
    To be clear:
  • Please do not create a post with the sole purpose to campaign for a character!
  • Do not add “VOTE FOR XYZ CHARACTER!!” anywhere in your post even if the intent isn't to purely campaign.
We want intelligent, decent and fun discussions about the weekly Rounds and the subsequent winners & losers.
  • No Image campaigning.
Do not create a post with an image or collage representation of a campaign poster. In other words: a PhotoShopped image of the character you want people to vote for with “vote for” text added to it.

Posting Etiquette:
  • Please do not cross post information about this tournament in other AnimeSuki threads.
Keep all Anime Saimoe Tournament posts, campaigns, character information, voting links, etc., within this thread only or in your signature (signature size limits still apply).
  • No "meta-posting".
Meaning: posting about another poster, the thread or about another post itself, is forbidden and will be deleted on-the-spot, regardless of intention. If you want to comment about another poster that’s off-topic and/or personal, send them a PM.
  • Any flame-baiting will be deleted and those people banned.
Please keep the thread positive, fun and clean. If your choice doesn’t win the Round and you can’t discuss the fact without complaining, swearing and baiting people into arguments, then don’t post.
  • Do not create image only posts.
You can, however, include an image with your discussion. If you want to visually support the character you’re voting for then please do so in the context of your original discussion and use only one or two images. We would encourage the use of “thumbnails” if possible (and please, no large images). PM the mods if you need help with posting thumbnail images.

How amusing. Speaking of which, we ought to get this thread closed soon and start fresh with a 2009 thread. Maybe then we can enforce the rules better.

Contestants page is online. http://www.internationalsaimoe.com/contestants.php Please let me know of any misspellings or inconsistencies.

The banner mini-contest is still active. I know KholdStare is participating. We need a new banner to replace the current one that still says 2008 on it. Required width is 1000px, but your height can be either 130px, 135px, or 140px.

The first submission I receive will get to go on the main page temporarily, since I want to shift these graphics out ASAP. But if more submissions come in, then we'll have a vote for the one that will stay for the whole year.

All translators, please begin translation work of the Rules page.

Kind of hard to get more voters if one does not say anything about the tournament...don't you think?

May as well scrap the rules. They clearly do not apply to ISML.

Well, the thread managed to survive with over 17,000 posts and no enforcement. How important are they, really?

Worthless, I'de say. Qtip received a infraction because he came, but other than that...no real rules broken.

This is one of the cases where the following rule applies:

Rule II.ii.B.2.c. "Candidates who have won or tied in a match in Korea Best Moe 2008, Round of 16, also defined as Round 7."

Normally, this would mean Top 8, but the flexibility of this rule allows for such circumstances such as the event occurring Korea Best Moe 2008. The Asterisk is there to denote this rare occurrence.
