She contracted with Kamito because she sensed a similarity with him (about the guilt of contractor).

Because Est can only use up to 10% of her power, Kamito just get 10% of her curse, so 1/10 slower than Areishia Idriss got (Areishia Idriss died 2 years after contracted with Est, so Kamito can live for 20 years). Kamito change his wish to decurse Est if he win the Blade Dance.

thanks for clearing this up i was also curious but doesnt kamito have multiple things he wants to accomplish with his wish?

From 3 choices of that, which one the hardest Kamito can get?

1. Just obedient with Restia request, she will back. Not need of the wish
2. Does Kamito know how to decurse Est? not! Need a wish.
3. Killing Elemental Lord. Does Elemental Lords will fullfil the wish that make them killed? If yes, how foolish of them.

No for 3, pretty much the reason why Restia was seperated from Kamito after the previous Blade Dance.

Hmmm I see. I wonder why the author keeps refering to her as a sacred sword. That part confuses me. Hasnt mentioned anything about a curse yet, but thats only because I am still into volume 2. Guessing it will come out eventually as I keep reading. Here I was thinking that Est was a great trade off from loosing Restia, but having a curse complicates things <.< . I am loving Est so far, her wanting affection from Kamito is cute (so much better than having to put up with those tsundere wannabe dumba$$'s). I thought she'd become a good partner for him, but now that you have said shes cursed, I feel a little uneasy :s. Even so, I feel at least she'll become reliable with him. Est really is my favourit character so far.
