Question for those who read the novels. How much of a role does asuna play in future stories? We hardly saw her in the recent anime arc.

Asuna is main heroine of SAO, unlike SUguha and other girls.

Do we ever get more character development for Asuna besides Mother's Rosario?

So far, nope. The character development for each arc:
Aincrad: Kirito, Asuna, Lizbeth, Silica
ALO: Kirito, Suguha
GGO: Kirito, Sinon
MR: Kirito, Asuna(mainly Asuna)
Alicization(ongoing arc): Kirito(currently)

The other girls also appear in each arc starting from GGO, but they're mostly on support role.

Asuna plays a big role in Alicization, though in terms of raw character development Mother's Rosario trumps it.

Since it's still ongoing and Asuna's specific role hasn't been exploited yet other than in the Web Novel, Asuna still hasn't made her big role yet.

PV for the final ep is out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhquixAeYbU
There are also preview pics on the official website.

The PV and the preview pics only show scenes from the rest of chapter 8, none from chapter 9. Can't wait to see Kirito and Asuna's reunion in the hospital room, I can tell from the previews that it's gonna be a great scene.

Hopefully they won't spend TOO much time on it. Chapter 9 needs to be done justice!

So the PV of episode 25 was not a set of flashbacks, like what they did for the PV of episode 14.

Interesting. Well after seeing that they are going to adapt that symbolic scene with SAO Kirito and Asuna holding hands and walking away, I have a good feeling that episode 25 will successfully close out the ALO arc and, by proxy, the SAO incident. Before seeing the PV, I was a little afraid they were going to skimp out on things.

What in the...they actually opted to spoil the encounter? Right after they seemed to have gone out of their way to hide the encounter's existence? I don't get it...

My personal guess would be they didn't want to waste enough time with flashbacks to hide everything.

Also, I would debate that the use of flashbacks in a PV was more suited for the PV of episode 14 than it would be for the PV of episode 25. It makes more sense for a flashback set-up for a period of over 2 years (even though we were only exposed to select scenes/situations from those 2 years of the SAO incident) than for a period of...what, a couple of days to a week that was the duration of the ALO arc? Maybe that's why they didn't go for the flashbacks again.

If I'm correct, it's around 3 days for whole ALO ingame event. But yeah, the use of flashbacks for a final episode of a season isn't really a good one overally.

Do you people think the anime will go on after episode 25 is out?

If there is another season of SAO it won't be that near future though(at least months).

It's safe to assume that SAO season 2 will/might be announced after AW season 2 ended.
