It's hardly a kiddy show, despite what the art style might suggest.

Yeah, Gundam AGE's story is worthy of the title of Gundam. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

I'll watch my Little Pony: friendship is magic but no way am I watching a kiddy gundam show. I like the previous gundam series too much to go backwards.
People die in Gundam AGE, and on screen as well, with blood.

I think that qualifies AGE at being decently mature.

This. Sums up the general misconception many have towards AGE. As the days pass, its effect is becoming more tangible, affecting ratings and even sales. Worse, as the quality of the show improves by leaps and bounds, people with such attitudes arguably miss out on more.

Something needs to be done to pump up publicity for the show. Improving the quality of the show does matter to faithful viewers, because it revitalises our interest in AGE. But efforts need to be made to bridge the gap between non-watchers and the show itself, though it seems Sunrise has given up on this group of non-believers.

the characte designs are a bit on the kid side but the story makes up for that. its just one of the atypical series like Turn A, Gundam X. being different doesnt mean AGE doesnt quality as a Gundam series.

How is Gundam X an atypical Gundam series?

There's no point in trying to "win back" those already into the franchise - because Bandai knows that they just need to refresh and reinvent the merchandise line every couple of years with stuff from the old shows and those old time fans would eat it up all again - the old time fans are considered "already in the bag", which is why developing new markets is way more important as to ensure that once the old time fans completely gives up on the hobby there's new ones to replace them, so "fan retention" is totally not the goal here with shows like AGE. If old timers happens to enjoy a new Gundam show it's just a bonus.

Depends whether one counts ELS Qan(T) as a Gundam (probably considered one given how 00 Qan(T) was considered to be one too unlike 00 Raiser which was not considered a Gundam). I'd probably say no to Flit because of Setsuna.

It's not quite fair though, since Setsuna didn't grow old after hanging out with those Aliens . Damn, old Marina got herself an immortal young (outside) boyfriend.

I do not know if this count, but Judau Ashta is still piloting his old ZZ in the Crossbone Era.

Age is age, the existence of being alive across the passage of time. Whether the body deteriorates or not during that passage of time matters not.

If I'm not mistaken, Judau is just a year younger than Flit in Crossbone. If he's still piloting a Gundam during Victory Gundam Side Story, though, then he beats out both Setsuna and Flit.

I'm pretty sure the start of Crossbone happened around F91's time, actually. Regardless, he's listed as 63 years during Crossbone, and 80 during VGSS.

Relax, mate. I was just fooling around when I posted it. I know fully well what "age" means.

Are the "Mobile Suit Gundam U.C. 0096" sidestories canon to the novel or anime?

I'd say the anime, just based on the manga's Wikia page mentioning a battleship being seen in Episode 2.
