You *can* watch any region anywhere... you just need the right gear or software. The people who invented region coding would like you to think you can't.

Example: I run a piece of software on my computer that masks the region code.

Example: I specifically purchased a region-free dvd player.

I was watching episode 16 and there is a scene showing the school at the top of a hill with a steep, cherry-lined road and I think I there are very similar scenes in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. If I'm not mistaken about the resemblance, are both series using a real location as a model?

Aye... a LOT of daily life anime uses real reference sites. The artists go on field trips and take lots of reference pics.

I'm not sure which location that is... but I remember seeing a live-action Shogi match that was played on a field banked by a hill that was lined with cherry trees. I don't know if that's just a popular landscaping technique or if it was the same locale.

Cherries and hills must be common, so maybe it is a coincidence, but I feel like I've seen that same school in more than one series. Most schools in anime seem to be on more level ground.

So there is software that lets any computer play DVDs from other regions? Can you recommend a program? I heard that a computer might be able to switch regions a limited number of times without special software, but I don't have a DVD to test it. I thought it was a player wasn't supposed to be sold outside of the region it was made for.

Question:

Why didn't Ami chan and Takasu pair up?

I wanted to so badly but it never happened and I am now heartbroken and using superglue to put together my heart's pieces.

There area literally dozens of pages of posts on this subject.... but in very brief - Takasu spotted Ami for what she was instantly. She got better, but by then he was simply too involved with Taiga who had evolved as well.

As Ami herself remarks offhandedly - she simply arrived on the scene too late. That's a fairly realistic depiction of how relationships often actually work.

Thanks. I personally think that if Ami had tried to win his heart, they could have been together. She just stood back and watched - respecting Taiga's feelings for Takasu.

hmm not sure if im rit abt this, i think it's that while ami was trying to help taiga and stuff, then she realized her feelings for takasu who by then is alr too into taiga to care abt ami. she said in vol. 9, smth abt no one ever see her suffering, not even takasu. so a romantic relationship would probably be impossible?

Your sig, is that Ushio, from Clannad?

As for Ami+Takasu, yeah, I don't think he ever noticed her. Then again, she didn't really try. At least not in the anime.

I can't really help you out with the manga, but I can tell you that the novels are, at least according to me, superior to the anime. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with the anime adaptation (it's on my Top 20 list after all) but I generally think that no visual medium (such as manga, anime, comics and movies) can ever compete with novels in terms of character depth and storytelling. Since Toradora!'s strong point, in my opinion, is its characters I'd say the novels have an edge that the anime could never compete with.

You're up to date -- there are only 3 volumes of the manga released so far.

The light novel series came first (and is a complete story now with 10 volumes). In case you're not familiar, light novels are 99% text with just a few illustrations. Basically somewhat like teen light novels in the US and elsewhere but in volume sets.

The anime came next and then the manga was started. The manga volumes release at the rate of about once per year. Yeah... that slow but the art is great.

What Meatrose said, yes.

I'm going to guess the general consensus is that the light novel series is "best" (as in having more depth, side plots, and extra story segments) while the anime is a pretty damned good *adaptation* (allowing for time budget issues). The manga follows the book more closely than it follows the anime in terms of visualization so that's enjoyable (you're not just getting "the same views you got in the anime").

To find a fan translation of the novel, just google.

Here's the english wiki on Toradora: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toradora!

why does Kitamura (in episode 16) start to like the president Kanō. I know it isn't him just starting to like her, but i thought he still liked Taiga...so i am confused.

Kitamura joins the student council after his confession is rejected by Taiga in his first year. He begins to fall in love with Kano after that. As for his liking Taiga, he was always a supporter of TaigaxRyuji.

I just finished episode 20 of toradora! and i don't understand why Taiga is seperateing herself from Kushieda! i understand that she wants to make him and Minori happy, but it is making her sad. and why is Kushieda allowing her to do this? deep down does he really love her or is he still all for Minori? What about Minori does she like Kushieda and is trying not to like him because of Taiga? and what is up with Minori spacing out? sorry about all the questions...please answer! thanks!

First off, Kushieda is Minori, you meant to say Ryuji. If you've watched up to Episode 20, my advice would be to just finish the series, all your questions will be answered eventually.

If you can't wait though,
Spoiler for spoiler:
