Does anyone know the real meaning / what actually happened in the Onikakushi-hen TIPS when Keiichi turns around and screams when he finally sees "something"? I was confused with that and how, in the end of Onikakushi, he had to expend so much effort and energy just to see what was behind him (supposedly Hanyuu) in the phone booth; I feel like those two things are the only things that didn't really connect in terms of useful evidence with the rest of Higurashi. I did read all of the arc's sound novels, and nothing references much about Onikakushi-hen's ending.

Here's the episode TIPS I'm referencing: http://whentheycry.wikia.com/wiki/Episode_4_TIPS (Scroll down to "At Sevens Mart")

I have another question, but I don't know if anyone has the answer. When Rika talks to people she never uses the Japanese honorifics. Anyone know why?

I never took attention to that before. It is a bit funny then, that in the official English manga, Rika ends most of her sentences with a "sir". While nothing serious, it doesn't bring out that part of Rika, just makes her look like she's really well-behaving. Or they're trying to make it something like "Rika is a honoured person, but talks to everyone politely so she evens out the difference". It is a bit hard to translate, as English language doesn't have everyday honorifics except maybe using the surname.

The "sir" added to every sentence is a rough translation of "desu." It's actually meant more as a cute verbal eccentricity in Japanese. It can be taken in 2 ways, either Rika is respectful to everyone in the village (without considering anyone "superior" to her), or it just adds fluff to the persona of "Sweet Rika-chan." I'm inclined to believe the latter, since "Sweet Rika-chan" adds "desu" when she talks to everyone, including her friends (even Satoko, which makes no sense whatsoever).

Also, a question from myself, has anyone read the PS2 Kakera Asobi sound novels, and all of Kataribanashi-hen?

Because apparently...

Spoiler for Is this really canon:

Can someone confirm that this is actually true, and there are no other comics in Kataribanashi-hen that portray any other pairing actually having a relationship? Because this just makes me wonder what exactly happened to Mion (and possibly Rena) then.

I am baffled by one thing, why are the characters of the final timeline being punished for somehting they did in a previous life?

Maybe some of those things are set in stone before the reset. Sometimes they only relive a few weeks rather than their entire lifes.

At least I think that is how it works.

Yep. In the final timeline, since Rika is only given 2 weeks, assume that all the "necessary" events that have happened in previous worlds have already taken plane (i.e. Rena's parents divorcing, Akasaka visiting Rika, Shion getting her nails ripped off for forgiveness and to learn responsibility). In the sound novels, there are 50 pieces from previous worlds that Rika deems as "necessary" events and connects to create the Matsuribayashi-hen kakera.
