News on the novels front.
The first novel series that the manga Ghost Hunt is based on has been revised and will be released in Japan starting in November under the collected name: Ghost Hunt. (The original novel series did not have an official collected name. Fans refer to the books as the Evil Spirits series.) Each title will have a subtitle referring to the specific case covered in the novel. The last multiple part book has been consolidated into a single book. Here are the titles and Japanese release dates. (Title translations by Kagedreams.) (Official Japanese web site) Ghost Hunt 1 Ghost Story of the Old Schoolhouse (Nov 19th release) Ghost Hunt 2 Doll's Cage (Jan 2011) Ghost Hunt 3 Girl's Prayer (Mar 2011) Ghost Hunt 4 Dead Souls Game (May 2011) Ghost Hunt 5 Maze of Freshly-Spilled Blood (Jul 2011) Ghost Hunt 6 It Came From the Ocean (Sep 2011) Ghost Hunt 7 Open the Door (Nov 2011) There's no word yet on whether Ono plans to continue the series beyond this revision of the original Evil Spirits novels or whether she plans to revise & rerelease the last case this isn't a part of the Evil Spirits collection. I still hope a US publisher picks up the novels for an English-language release.

BREAKING: Shibuya Psychic Research is now tweeting from its office. They're updated by the mysterious R and investigator M.
Spoiler for twitter:
Oh.... now I imagine the characters all having their twitter accounts. Anyway, I wonder how much of a rewrite it is... I may try to read them myself. |

I'm in total disbelief. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect this manga adaptation. Absolutely amazing!
But you know what would really make my day? For Kodansha to announce that it's finally releasing GH v12 here in the US, preferably just in time for Halloween as that has been USA GH's time slot since the beginning.

Im not holding my breath though Id love for them to release it just so I'll have a completed series! Im sick of having half finished series
This news is shocking, Im really wondering what brought this one since the first manga has been over in Japan since 2010 I think. I dont think it had great sales but maybe with the news that Ono-sensei was reworking the novels sparked some interest. Here's hoping Inada-sensei stays healthy to finish this one!

It's 1 story that was split into 2 books for its release due to its page count. It's important to note that Ono intended the Ghost Hunt series to end with original series. She never wanted to write a sequel, but her publishers pressured her into writing it because the series was so popular. In her mind, the series is complete. She seems to resent any calls to extend the series. At least that's the feeling I get from reading her writings about the GH series.

Yes, that's true. The original novels weren't just from Mai's pov; they were written in first person. In translation terms, that means a lot of "I said. I saw. I think." In practical terms, that means that if Mai wasn't there to see it happen, it never happened. If Mai didn't think it, it wasn't thought as far as the reader knows. However with the third person narration, we see scenes where Mai isn't present, get inside some other peoples' heads, and hear their thoughts. Including Naru's, so I've heard.

OMG WE CAN FINALLY TALK ABOUT THIS!!
First chap for me had a really nice build up, explained exactly what's going on in nice creepy detail. The "cousin" who I dont believe is actually her cousin obviously is going to be the problem here aside from the house. THE MIRROR!!! <3 My heart jumped at that Seriously though was so nice to see the Office Regulars back. Hoping next chap we see the Irregulars
