Heres a 3D model I've been working on recently. Its a Aruruu model lol. I'm making it in 3d studio max, and this'll be my 2nd model XD; I have much to learn, I really shoulda saved Aruruu for when I get better lol...
I'm gonna make her a few accessories and clothes, I just started with a swimsuit because its easy. Not even the swimsuits finished yet lol, still got texture to do XD; |

Muahaha, yes!!
Yeah I'll say... I hate trying to get areas of the body to deform correctly LOL! Quote:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Heres Aruruu with the actual finished swimsuit. The previous one was just budget basic colours from 3dmax itself lol. This finished one is fully textured, double sided and has cloth modifyer added and also outlined XD; I also took some time to pose her a bit |

ghehe nice looking :P
i am myself also doing a study into 3d,, however i mostly work with autodesk maya u should try however i heard from various people who already worked with max that they like that better... its just what u know best if u want to improve your models or the likeness of it build it in nurbs and place your own nice homemade textures on it ( i am sure u would see it looks astonishing if u completed it ) (dont be shy with pollys if it is for this sort of purposes, but always rememeber try to get out as much as you can with the polys you have :P ) btw u use bones and rigging for the changing of the poses? if not find out how and get to master it ( my self i know nothing about it at that part :P ). It will increade the likeness of the poses even more and it will give you more poses in less time GL ! |

Thank you very much XD Quote:
Yeah I noticed the head was quite big too. I originally intended for a normal proportioned Aruruu model. But then I followed my reference schematic drawing that I did, which was SD lol!! So ya..came out all chibi-ish in a way XD; Quote:

Actually I've learnt that nurbs are very hard to shape the way you'd like them to go. The easiest way that i feel is to construct things out of simple polygons, then just use smoothing groups, or mabye a intergration of turbosmooth or mesh smooth(but that buffs up the poly count by a lot and lags the rendering process and makes it a pain to physique). I think overall I'm just trying to aim for a not too high not too low poly count XD! Aruruu's body was originally just under 3000 polygons. But I decided to up it to about 7000 to get slightly more smoothness without the lag kicking in yet XD! And yeah XD! I rigged Aruruu with the bones lol, the physiquing part was a nightmare that I'll never forget x_x;; |

mmh yes i am just recently working with nurbs and indeed i also think polygons are easier in someway. However i think ( still finding out ) that u just have to think in an other way about the construction of an object by seeing the curves and patches before even making the object u want. The great pre of nurbs is just that it has infinite normals so it will render beautifully.
lol that will indeed be a pain.. the rigging and stuff.. suc6 and cya |

That was made and rendered in autodesk 3d studio max 8. I took it into adobe after effects 7 to do some touch ups, then I took it into macromedia flash 8 to convert it to swf. The quality dropped down quite a bit from the original tho |
