This seems nothing like a SHAFT show.

All they have between now and Kizumonogatari is the rest of Katte ni Kaizou and the Negima movie.

I've read up to the current scanlations of the manga. The story is interesting, although a bit anti-nuclear IMO.

However, it doesn't make any sense that they wear SCHOOL uniforms. Feel like the author only inserted this to make it more appealing to certain demographics.

No, just no. I like SHAFT, but they don't understand the meaning of gritty, or proper backgrounds for that matter, and this show lives or die based on how successfully they managed to capture the background -- the feel of a dead Tokyo, the ruined skyscrapers, the urban mess, the nature that flourishes despite it.

Though in another sense the city's fundamental emptiness makes their usual "where the hell are the background people?" quirk much easier to accept.

But this looks like an I.G. or Madhouse kind of series anyway, so the point is moot.

For all the clichés that people outside of the anime fandom makes of it, there's really not enough high school girls action series out there, and most certainly not enough good ones.

Coppelion, ironically, is consequently a breath of fresh air...well as long as you are behind an anti-radiation suit. It's smart, it's action-y, and its premise is shockingly prescient given the recent events (wonder how the author feels about it).

Spoiler for Forgot this is a potential spoiler!, the "how come they're in their uniforms" question:

Well I would have thought it would be better to be wearing slightly more casual clothing, you know you'd most certainly want to be wearing jeans when going through a ruined city.
Wearing skirts and exposing bare legs while walking through such a place is just screaming "Tetanus" or they would just end up cutting them selvels up alot.
I know we wouldn't really be shown such stuff within the story(too small to bother with) but if you end up giving it a little thought it can stick.

Altho I'm fine with the school uniform but I think it would be better suited seeing them in casual clothing.
Well tbh I'd expect them wearing military gear, maybe not full on but some at the very least.
I get that it's manga but still a tiny tinge of realism can go along way to creating a much better atomsphere.

Can't be I.G., they're doing Guilty Crown and it's supposed to be a big deal.

It could be Madhouse though, this type of series is right up their alley.

I wish it won't turn like that. Unless a confirmation has been said. I will wait. I wait for more than a year for mouretsu space pirates.

I have skimmed through the 18 chapters of translated manga I found online and no sign of nuclear wasteland zombies yet. :/
Overall this is a weird story.

honestly, it's not the right time

Japan does not need more nuclear fear-mongering right now

I can understand why this is delayed indefinitely

Holy cow, and here I was being cynic thinking someone was bumping this thread asking for news.

Also love the cast:

Quote:
Haruka Tomatsu as Ibara Naruse
Kana Hanazawa as Aoi Fukasaku
Satomi Akesaka as Taeko Nomura
Now I just wonder if the staff is the same as when the project was first announced.
