If the rank is core specific then I'm not complain, haven't read that scene in particular.

Nope, it's not core specific. It's the ranking for the IS in general.

the one-off abilities are pilot-core combination specific so yeah. Basically IS core is super robot but the frame/armor/weaponry is real robot. Hybrid one can say.

In mine, One-off ability is precisely happens when you hit S rank... for a moment, not all the time. Anyone with constant S-Rank is god of war, and must have a lot of experience or plain lucky.

the whole family matter of Lyon has become really tempting to write about. I'm not sure if it should become the core plot or just a side-story.

As for the sync rank, I used that.

Unknown variables must be taken specifically in case of core. Iori, who completed ByakuShiki has to insert a lot of cheat codes and remove it one by one when Ichika's proficiency increased

Kurogane can't have Reiryaku Byakuya, despite being an upgrade of KureZakura, unless it's used by the Orimuras. On the other hand, ByakuShiki has it despite being based directly on ShiroKishi (who can't). So it's really core-pilot specific, with frame being the buffer.

EDIT: Oh wait, It also incorporates Yukihira... hmm....

Also, what if Ichika's Byakushiki had more than one one-off ability? The possibility has shrunk after reaching 2nd shift but everyone kept saying that Byakushiki has Reiraku Byakuya because of the equalizer slots used to modify Byakushiki and give it its one off ability right from the start. What if the mods didn't give it access to OOA but directly to Reiraku Byakuya? What do you think the real OOA between Ichika and Byakushiki would have been?

On a more serious note, all M have in canon is a better version of Blue Tears with defensive Bit(s), projectile weapon, and beam bayonet, nothing else.

True OOA? Something to do with super high speed cruise, no really. Brute speed always been Ichika's true strength. Even after Second shift.

...zero... for some reason instead of thinking of a one off ability for Madoka, I got one for Rin. I'm not sure what to call it yet but for now "Exceed the Physical" should suffice @_@

Basically, the one off ability allows Rin to overdrive Shenlong without breaking it into pieces. One application is the hyper pressurization of all impact cannons turning them into plasma weaponry. Another is pushing Shenlong into taking hits without damaging the shield or significantly lessening the damage.

I ask for thy forgiveness

Umm... that's more about 'redirecting/channeling' the attack than absorbing them (ground usually being the victim, but water or other medium isn't that uncommon)

Unless Ki/Chi is involved.

"Chi/Ki" was actually the theme for Shenlong's second shift. They say that the natural flow of chi that travels around the world can be imagined in the form of a river or a dragon

chi just means breath anyway. Alternatively it just means air... which is what the impact cannons shoot so we're still in real robot when it comes to the frame and armaments. The one off ability jsut gives it super robot abilities because of the IS core, which is srsly super robot territory.

Well, unless you have to break the rules of thermodynamic (which is not broken in mine, and implied in canon with heat diffusion version). Of course, that's just my handwave so Ichika can saw the projectile.

However I did read that IS one-off abilities are pilot-core combination specific to produce a certain one off ability. One off abilities are activated when the core and the pilot synchronize 100%. The last piece that could complete my idea of IS ranking is the possibility that IS sync ranking fluctuates as time passes by. If the last statement were true then why does it fluctuate? the only possibility I can think of is the IS' AI's personality. The high sync rank can be extended to other IS if only due to IS network. ugh... the whole family matter of Lyon has become really tempting to write about.
