It’s May and our theme is “Water Users”
The winner of this contest will decide the theme for next months contest.




This thread is for submissions into the Character of the Month contest.
Contest Rules are as follows:
1. Every contest will have a theme. Each contestant must abide by the theme. Themes cannot be picked twice in a row.

2. Every Character Must be put in spoiler tags. This is to save space.

3. Contest submissions begin on the first day of each month. The entry period will last until two weeks from that date.

4. On the day after the submission date, a poll will open and it will last for one week. When the poll closes, the winner will be allowed to choose a theme for the next contest.

5. The next contest will not begin until the first of the month, when submissions are allowed once again.

6. Only one official submission per contestant. You may create as many character as you want, but you can only enter one official character. So please put “final or official entry in your post when your ready to turn in your finished character.

7. You are allowed to wait until the final day to turn in your entry. If you wish to keep your entry private until the day the poll opens you can request it in the submission thread or by private message to the organizer (me, Zaku).


This months entry period officially starts May 1, 2008 and lasts until May 23, 2008. Entries will be gathered and put up for voting on May 18, 2008. Voting will end on the following Sunday.***





Entries can either be private messaged or posted in the submission thread. The submission thread can also be used to post works in progress to gather feedback from other posters. You do not have to post your entries in the thread if you don't wish to (for those who want to be private about what they are working on), until the last day of submissions. The whole idea is to promote quality entries but it's not required to submit early if you are confident in your entry but want to keep your submission secret until the due date.

I will periodically update the thread to keep track of the names of all contestants and list those names here. Those who wish to keep entries private until the due date should still inform me they are entering so I can keep track of who is competing.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to post them here or private message me, I'll do my best to answer.

The due date ends at 11:59 (midnight basically) UTC/GMT. The polling will be up one day later after 11:59 (again, midnight). I will try to be as lenient as I can with last minute submissions but only slightly.

Here is my character. It is half an attempt. It's actually one of a series but I'll post it anyway. I know it doesn't have lots of jutsu explanations but there was just too many. All the names are fairly well self-explanatory anyway.

Brief Life Story:
When he joined Kouseitan’i his entire history was erased from all villages. Not even Kirigakure is sure which one of their shinobi he is. Since Kouseitan’i was formed, him as one of the original members by the looks of it, they haven’t done much, certainly no criminal behaviour but thy have been labelled high rank Nuke-nin.

Some of you may remember this character, because I posted it a while back. I changed some stuff so here it is.

Village: No official village. His clan travels from village to village.

Ninja Rank: Jounin

Bloodline Trait Description: Trait that allows shinobi from the Shiteki clan to be able to relive various events that their ancestors have lived through. Most normal genin can use their chakra to see some of their ancestors weaker jutsus and less important experiences, but Kage level ninja of the clan can see almost every detail of most of their ancestor's lives! This trait allows the user to see mistakes made by ancestors and learn not to make the same ones, and they also might learn a few strategies along the way. This also makes it so that the shinobi don't normally work on learning jutsus, but learning how to control their bloodline trait, although if they want to they can make up their own jutsus, or learn new ones. There is also an ability to use the trait for an opposite use, to see into the future. But, because it takes quite a bit of the users chakra, and you can only see a couple of minutes into the future, Kage level ninja are normally the only ones who use it. The Senzo has some aftereffects as well. Whenever someone uses it their personality and chakra supply sometimes changes depending on who they see. It is hard to predict what will happen, so they are advised at a young age to practice at a safe place.

Description: Anaiga likes to wear lose t-shirts and loose, but not saggy, jeans. He is normally seen wearing a black jacket with a bolt of lightning on the back, which is his clan's insignia, unless he is in battle. The jacket, which is lined with chakra, is a gift given to a child when they reach the age of 10. It is lined with weights which, as soon as they're given to the child, altogether weigh 20 lbs. Every year the leader decides how much weight to add by a fitness test taken at every one of the Shiteki clan's shinobi's birthdays and then adds it for the shinobi to build up not only physical strength, but spiritual strength as well. The jacket is only removed when the shinobi feels that he wants to take it off, which is rarely. Because Anaiga is fifteen years old his jacket now weighs over 400 lbs!

Personality: Anaiga's personality is hard to determine, because of how much he uses the Senzo. He could be joking around one day and act completely quiet the next. This, along with the fact that his clan moves a lot, makes it hard for him to keep any friends, so he trains most of the time which has made him a jounin.

Special Characteristics: He normally carries arround quite a few scrolls in case their is a chance for him to train.

Skills/Specialties: Unlike most people in his clan, he has seen the past of other poeple from other clans. It has only happened a few times, but it has happened enough for him to figure out that it only happens rarely and only when he really needs it. It takes twice the amount of chakra to look into his opponent's history, than it does to look into his own ancestry, so it is very difficult to use effectively. There is one jutsu that he learned that took 1 and a half years of training. The Chidori. Even if he can only do it once per battle, it is still a very strong jutsu and one that not many people know. He is also extemely gifted in taijutsu. He has no talent for genjutsu whatsoever.

Jutsu: >Senzo Utsushi No Jutsu (ancestral copy jutsu)- Jutsu in which he uses his bloodline trait to experience his ancestor's (or, rarely, his opponents) training and use what they learned for a short time. Requires 15% chakra (may be more or less depending on what he is learning). This jutsus drawback is that with the jutsu he learns, he also receives the personality of the person that he is receiving the jutsu from. This can mean if he looks into the person he is fighting's past, if the person was evil at the time, then he will become evil too for as long as he holds on to the jutsu he learned. This could mean that if he did that to learn one of Orochimaru's jutsus then he would become as evil as Orochimaru was at the time.

Hstory: Anaiga was born in Konoha where the Fourth Hokage blessed him by giving him knowledge that he told Anaiga's parents, "Would be uncovered when he is ready." This is one reason that he trains so hard, because he is desperate to find out what knowledge was given to him. When Anaiga was 6 years old he met one of The Three Legendary Sanin from the leaf village, Tsunade, or as his father called her "The Legendary Sucker". She gave him nothing really except for a few words, "So you're the runt of the litter huh, no wonder your father is so stressed out. He has to teach you." Those words, coming from someone as important as her, are one of the many reasons he trains harder than anyone else. Then, about 6 years after that day, he was training, trying to see farther back, when he saw an image of the Nine-Tailed Fox and then he saw a baby in a basket with a weird symbol on his stomach.Then he saw a shinobi training with a white haired ninja, trying to learn this lightning jutsu called Chidori. At first he thought that he was just seeing things, but after it happened a few more times he realized he was special, and started trying to learn this lightning jutsu. And, after 3 more years of training, he is coming ever-closer to mastering his unique ability.

You don't have to not enter because your brother did that. You can either just delete that post and make a new post with your official character between today and tomorrow, midnight tomorrow is the cutoff time. Or just edit that one and replace the fire character with whatever water user ur going to plan on entering.

He wears 5 belts around both forearms and two long belts that go around his body, over his clothing. E.g. one comes over left shoulder, goes across his body at an angle and goes back to his shoulder along his back. The other belt goes from the other shoulder around. Also wears white shin guards that have some bamboo texture, only the bottoms show because of his pants. Black sandals.

Fighting Style: Close Combat- Up close and flexy-like, expert at turning opponents attacks back at them. Long Range- Better at long range. Stealthy and quick assassination.
Personality: Mostly cool. Aisu is a kind, caring person, who can sometimes be deadly serious. He’s always giving his teammates advice and training with them.

BG: The Kirigakure shown in the Naruto series has disappeared. The Village Hidden in the Mist has become a friendlier village, but there are also those underground ninja who still stick to the old Kirigakure way of merciless fighting. Aisu was born a ninja at heart. Accessing one of his Kekkai Genkai at 4, another at 8 and mastered both by 10. His Kekkai Genkai are Mizu Seichuu and Bouenkyou. Mizu Seichuu is Water Control….. Literally!! Aisu can control water in any possible way. He mostly uses Mizu Seichuu to: (1) Control water, while it’s still as body of water or controlling the water and bringing it into the air. (2) Freezing the water into ice and (3) Heating water into steam. He also uses water to trap enemies with water from a distance and using water for healing purposes, though he’s not the team’s medic, Riki is. His other Kekkei Genkai, Bouenkyou, is very useful for his long range attacks. Bouenkyou turns his right eye deep green and a thin black line (in a circle shape) appears about ½ cm outward of his pupil. Bouenkyou makes Aisu’s eye into a telescope, his eye can zoom up to 20x the eyesight of a normal person. That’s more than a sniper rifles’ scope. When Aisu’s uses Bouenkyou to zoom in, the extra circle that appears on his iris turns clockwise and when he zooms out, it gores counter-clockwise. This very useful for scouting out areas ahead, though unlike the Byakugan, Bouenkyou cannot see through objects. Bouenkyou has one advantage over Byakugan, the Byakugan can only see life and chakra sources, it’s hard for the Byakugan to see inanimate objects. In one of his pockets, Aisu keeps a small gourd of water, if there is none around. He rarely has to do this though because he can get water from anything. Getting water from a lake or such is too simple, getting it from plants is harder though and getting water from below ground is even harder, nearly impossible for anyone in his clan but Aisu. Aisu wears those belts on his arms for a reason. On the underside of his arms, but between the belts and his skin, are senbon needles held back by the tightness of the belts. When he releases a belt loop, the needles will fly. The farther the belt is, the faster the senbon will fly. So the belt closest to Aisu’s wrist flies at the slowest rate, about the same velocity of just throwing a needle. The belt closest to Aisu’s elbow flies at a speed so fast, it cannot be seen. As soon as he undoes the belt buckle, the senbon fly and hit the target, the thing Aisu has to beware of is the direction his arm is pointing, because I don’t think he wants a high speed senbon, stuck in his side. When he unbuckles a belt, he stuffs it into one of his pockets. Under the belts of his right arm, Aisu wears a mass of bandages covering something he wishes to forget. When he was 9, Kirigakure and Sunagakure were at a mini-scale war, all the Mist ninja were dispatched, even the Genin. When Kirigakure was what they thought was the end, they devised a plan. They would send a message to Konohagakure (the Leaf), asking for reinforcements and a plan to call of the Sand. Since they had no other ninja to be a messenger, they had to select an Academy Student. They selected Aisu and he went on his way. On his way to The Leaf Village, he encountered a group of Sand Chunin. Aisu was able to take out most of them, but one had placed a paper bomb on his right arm after he had fled and it burned him. He was able to make it to the village gate before collapsing with scroll in hand. A Jonin picked him up and took him to the Leaf hospital. The scroll was taken to the Third Hokage and they sent reinforcements to the Mist’s border and a team to go to the Sand Council. The war was resolved and everything, but Aisu had to stay in the Leaf Village to heal and recuperate. While in the hospital, he met a boy his age that had broken his leg. The boy’s name was…….. Naruto Uzumaki! Apparently, Naruto broke his leg after falling off a building while fleeing from Iruka. While spending a month in the hospital, Aisu still trained even without the use of his right arm, which was healing. Naruto asked Aisu why he was always training, he just said, “If I want to graduate, I’m gonna have to keep training.” He explained to Naruto that the Mist’s graduating age was 10. After healing, the burn on his arms formed an arrow-like shape. Then after saying good bye to Naruto, he was escorted to Kirigakure. When he returned his parents greeted him with a pet sea snake, from the part of Kirigakure that touched the ocean. Aisu named the snake Kizuato, because Kizuato had an odd looking X-shaped scar on top of his head. Kizuato’s top half of his body is a sky blue-turquoise, while the bottom/underside is off white. When Kizuato first met Aisu, he was about the same length from Aisu’s elbow to the tip of his middle finger (roughly half his arm). Now he’s so big,he can extend from one of Aisu’s arms, across his back and to the end of the other arm. Over the years, Kizuato has learned to talk English. He never bothered to learn difficult/long English words, such as “onomatopoeia” or “sensationally”. Kizuato can fight alongside Aisu; he can wrap himself around an enemy, ram a target with his hard skin and bite. On another note, Aisu is currently in a relationship with Riki.



Jutsu-

“Mizu Bunshin no Jutsu” (Water Clone Jutsu) - Forms clone/clones out of water, which is similar to most clone jutsu. They are destroyed with one hit. The chakra usage is low to high, depending on how many clones are made. Aisu can make up to 10. D-rank, supplementary.

“Koori/Mizu Shuriken no Jutsu” (Ice/Water Shuriken Jutsu) - Creates a shuriken out of ice, by freezing water while using Mizu Seichuu or just making a shuriken out of water and throws it at the enemy. D-rank, offensive.

“Suiton: Mizu Doragon Misairu” (Water Style: Water Dragon Missile) – Aisu makes a giant dragon out of water and aims it at the opponent. A-rank, offensive

“Suiton: Mizu Gokusha no Jutsu” (Water Style: Water Prison Jutsu”) – A jutsu used to encase an enemy in a sphere of water. Even though it’s water, it is harder than steel once used. The user must keep one hand in the prison to maintain it, or else it will fall apart and the target can escape. C-rank, supplementary.

“Suiton: Kyokan Kadou no Jutsu” (Water Style: Giant Vortex Jutsu) - This move uses water to make a giant vortex. The vortex flies towards the enemy and sucks them up. The vortex has unimaginable force so it is a very powerful jutsu, which means it uses a lot of chakra. A-rank, offensive.

“Mizu Toku no Jutsu” (Water Shield Jutsu) - Aisu uses water to create a circular barrier in front of him. The shield is stronger than steel. C-Rank, defensive.

“Koori Shuri no Jutsu (Ice Dart Jutsu)- Using Mizu Seichuu, Aisu freezes a portion of water and flings it towards the target. Can also be used along with Bouenkyou from afar. D-rank, offensive.

“Buatsui Koori Hitoame (Massive Ice Shower) - Also used with Mizu Seichuu, this time a huge amount of water is frozen, then Aisu makes the ice darts fly up and rain upon the target.

“Chikara sono Getsuei” (Strength of the Moon) – One of Aisu’s strongest original jutsu. He takes some water and twirls it in a circular motion. Here’s the description if it were in anime: Aisu makes the water spin (as said above), everything goes dark except the water and inside the water’s circle shape a picture of the moon starts to appear. OK now back to the original description. As the opponent stares at Aisu, expecting the attack to come from him, three circles of water descend over the enemy. Aisu then holds up his fists and then closes them together. When that happens, the water around the enemy tightens, holding them in place. (If you know DBZ then it’s similar to Gotenks’ Galactic Doughnut.) Aisu can now control the opponent, by lifting them with the water rings around them, or can hold them down for an attack. A-rank, offensive, defensive.


“Kuchiyose no Jutsu” (Summoning Jutsu) – Aisu has a summoning contract w/Kizuato. So he can summon Kizuato to fight. A-rank, supplementary.


“Koori Kikou Sune-ku no Jutsu” (Ice Armored Snake Jutsu) - Aisu uses Mizu Seichuu to lay water on parts of Kizuato and then freezes it. The ice armor spikes up ward like at porcupines quills. The armor is on Kizuato’s head, where his scar is and then from the end of his neck to his tail. Kizuato’s charge attack is now much more powerful and deadly. B-rank, offensive/defensive.

“Su-pa Aisu Joufu Mo-do” (Super Aisu Joufu/Ice Warrior Mode) – This is Aisu’s final resort. It can be called Super Aisu Joufu Mode- as in reference to his name or Super Ice Warrior Mode- as reference to the jutsu. The mode, Super Aisu is in league with the 8 Gates. In this mode, Aisu’s hair turns light blue and his eyes turn completely white with no pupils. All of a sudden, any water will speed to Aisu’s arms. The water surrounds his arms and when it’s all in place, it freezes. The ice will also extend to 5 feet above Aisu’s shoulders; this ice has a crystal-like texture, unlike Ice Armored Snake Jutsu where it’s spiky. Also the ice arms grow a little once formed, they grow big to as where Aisu uses them as legs, with his fists on the ground his feet are 2 feet off the ground. With this jutsu, Aisu can use his water-based jutsu without water. He shoots Ice Darts from his palms and when he concentrates he’s able to shoot homing Ice Shuriken from the sides of his arms. He can even do Water Clones, but they still vanish with one hit. Aisu’s strength is increased twenty fold, defense is powered up and his chakra is also enhanced. He gives off a white-blue aura in this phase. This has it’s disadvantages though, if in this form to long, he becomes a killing machine, not knowing the difference between friends and enemies and after using it, his muscles weaken, so he is out of commission for a day or two afterwards. S-rank, offensive/defensive.

Usual Attire / Appearance: Daisuke wears the standard Takigakure blue flak jacket, grey fatigues, and headband stamped with the village symbol. He wears black leather fingerless gloves with plates inscribed with the village symbol, as well.
Miscellaneous: Daisuke is largely a ninjutsu user, but he is quite skilled at taijutsu as well. He shows almost zero aptitude for genjutsu, although has trained to be able to break it. He keeps his tanto in a hidden sheath on his back, and only draws it either when he really needs or to take the enemy by surprise in the middle of a fight. It can’t stand up to too many direct impacts because it is somewhat thin. He has a thin scar on his right hand shaped like a backwards “L”, a result from the surgery he had to have on his hand after he broke it during the Chuunin Exams.

History/Personality:
Daisuke’s life growing up as a child was not much different from any other child’s growing up in a village full of shinobi. He attended the Academy when he came of age, and eventually graduated with his team, which was Takigakure Team Four along with his teammates Kaito Oka and Miyu Shimazu.

When the Chuunin Exams in Konohagakure (“Hidden Leaf Village”) took place, the Team Four genins competed, but they and the other Takigakure group that attended the Chuunin Exams didn’t even make it to the third stage of the examinations. Stinging with failure, they spent the next two years training hard for the next Chuunin Exams. They made it, if only barely. Daisuke broke his hand in the middle of his final match in the exam’s final stage, after he attempted to stab his opponent with his tanto. He only succeeded in nicking his opponent’s shoulder, and the tanto’s thin blade snapped and the force of the attempt broke his hand and wrist. He was able to fight his opponent to a standstill, and the match was declared a draw when neither could go on fighting any longer. The resulting surgery to fix his hand left a scar on the top of his hand where the thumb meets the wrist.

His teammates beat their opponents rather handily because their water type jutsu had an advantage over the fire-type ninjutsu their opponents used.

Daisuke has always been the weakest on the team, but nevertheless strives to better himself, if for no reason other than he doesn’t want to burden his teammates. He also is set on being better than his sensei, Mizuko Kawada, whose tough training always pushes Daisuke to his limits. She trains with Daisuke often because she understands his desire to become stronger, but also worries that his impetuous behavior might get the better of him one day and put the squad in hot water, so to speak.

Water Style Techniques (Ninjutsu):
Mizu Bunshin no Jutsu ("Water Clone Technique") - Forms clones out of water, which are much like any other type of clone technique (e.g. shadow/rock/mist clones). They are typically destroyed with one hit. Depending on how many are made (Daisuke can make as many as 3 at a time), the chakra consumption is low to high. E-rank, supplementary, all ranges. Hand Signs: Tiger, Ox, Dragon

Mizu Shuriken no Jutsu (“Water Shuriken Technique”) - Creates a shuriken out of water and hurls it at an enemy. Works best if he is near an open body of water (e.g. a lake or a spring). Otherwise, it takes a lot of chakra to conjure it. D-rank, offensive, all ranges. Hand Signs: Tiger, Dragon, Snake, Rooster

Tajuu Mizu Shuriken no Jutsu (“Mass Water Shuriken Technique”) - Sends out more than one water shuriken, but requires exponentially increasing amounts of chakra because he also has to control their flight, making sure they don’t break apart mid-flight. Naturally, this requires a lot of concentration. The user is quite vulnerable to direct attacks while performing this jutsu. Chakra consumption is moderate to high, depending on the amount made and if there is a body of water nearby to provide the water. C-rank, offensive, all ranges. Hand Signs: (Tiger, Ox)*, Snake, Rooster
* Note: This section is repeated for each Water Shuriken created.

Suiton: Suirou no Jutsu (“Water Release: Water Prison Technique”) - A technique that utilizes water to imprison an opponent. The ninja forms the necessary hand seals which causes the water to form around the target into a spherical prison which only allows for very limited movement. Susumu must keep their body touching the water prison to maintain the technique. If the contact is broken, the water falls away and the target is released. When combined with a clone technique, Susumu can have the clone or himself maintain the water prison while the other attacks. C-rank, supplementary, very short range (0-1m). Hand Signs: Sheep, Snake, Tiger, Rabbit, Snake, Dragon, Rabbit, Rooster (must keep in contact with water prison to maintain technique)

Suiton: Mizurappa ("Water Release: Violent Water Wave") - After performing the necessary hand signs, the Daisuke fires a very powerful jet of water from his mouth. This attack is extremely powerful up close, and easily has the power to break bones if the target is within ten meters. It has the approximate power of a very strong punch if further away. B-rank, offensive, short to mid-range (0-10m). Hand Signs: Rat, Dragon, Rooster, Horse

Suiton: Mizu no Uzu no Jutsu ("Water Release: Water Vortex Technique") - This technique utilizes water to create a spinning tornado of water that surrounds the user. This technique is an effective defense and can be a powerful attack mechanism if the ninja sends the top of the vortex crashing down around him. The water rotates with enough speed to knock an enemy unconscious. Chakra consumption is average, but increases the longer the technique is held (due to the vortex eventually becoming unstable). A-rank, defensive/offensive, all ranges. Hand Signs: Tiger, Ox, Monkey, Rabbit, Ram, Boar, Ox, Horse, Monkey, Tiger, Dog, Tiger, Snake, Tiger, Ox, Monkey, Rabbit, Rooster

Other Ninjutsu:
Kuchiyose no Jutsu ("Summoning Technique") – Daisuke can summon otters to fight with him. He cannot yet summon the “boss otter”, Atsuo (厚尾), but can summon smaller ones that still prove to be useful. They use a Water Style technique called Mizu Tsume no Jutsu (Water Claw Technique) that forms three large spikes out of water and rakes them across the opponent several times. These claws made out of water are not as sharp as say, Wind Style ninjutsu, but can still put a good dent in rock. The otters are most effective in or near water. Their performance suffers greatly on dry land.
