Some details from the Otona Animedia interview with the director was posted on 2ch:
- The series is 2-cour - He says they should be able to adapt all of the Balbadd arc without cutting out much - Making Aladdin's mannerism feminine was apparently a direct order from the original author - Tatsuyuki Nagai (Anohana director) is storyboarding and directing the OP, while Atsushi Nishigori (Idolmaster director) is the animation director for the OP - They're planning a big event in the future |

The synopsis and preview screens for episode 1 has been added. Ep1 is "Aladdin and Alibaba", and it looks like they'll be condensing the first 3 chapters into a single episode, as expected. |

^well, Aladdin was originally going to be a spunky female warrior.
Here's a sketch of original concept Aladdin and Alibaba Aladdin's feminine design is reminiscent of the author's original concepts. (Including idea of the wrapped-cloth around the breast)

Originally, she wanted to have Aladdin as a female warrior, and Alibaba a Roman Gladiator who lost all hope in the world. The initial concept of the story was much darker, serious storyline.
But that didn't really fit the mood of the Weekly Shounen Sunday, so she switched to two comical boys to fit the atmosphere of the magazine. (and honestly, her initial concept is probably more suited for seinen magazine anyways). Those who know the manga can tell some recycled material here. Obviously, the "original" Alibaba probably ended up being the basis for another character, a loyal quiet follower of Sindbad who used to be a Roman Gladiator.

LOL XDDDD Laughed so hard when I saw this, thanks for sharing! Hmmm, I'm glad they decided to keep these funny faces, I loved them so much in the manga Anyway, about the whole gender changing thing, I'm gald they did it. Not only is it better for a shounen manga, the two work better as friends. If Aladdin were a girl, inevitably there would be romance involved, and I think that the romance element we get from Mor is enough. Plus, I love the relationship between Aladdin and Alibaba as it is. |

Well I doubt Mor was even in the original concept.
She seems to be a product of unused original Aladdin and Alibaba combined, complete with slavery shackles and strong female. I too much prefer the trio we ended up with.

My biggest fear is that we won't see Elizabeth, the most beautiful hostess.
Mor's personality is actually much matches the personality of the original concept of Alibaba, while Alibaba's matches up with the original concept of Aladdin. Though Aladdin did keep a lot of his personality from the concept as well. |
