I'm upto the current chapter, so i can say without any worry that the adaptation does indeed excel the manga for the reasons you have mentioned. Obviously i prefer the art of the manga, though it's as close as it could possible be in the anime to the original.

Just so people know, the official twitter for the second season mentioned today that there will be no episode 10 this week. It will air on the 22nd.

This isn't exactly an anime R2 purchase of KimiTodo but is related to the anime series. The live action movie of Kimi ni Todoke. It's running a joint campaign with the first press DVD volume 1 of the anime's 2nd season where if you purchase both the movie and vol 1 anime DVD you can send in the application tickets for a special postcard album holder.

P.S. Pin's hair isn't spiked up in the live action movie like it was for the anime!

Anyone else seen the movie yet?

I posted what I thought of it in the recent movies thread in General Chat. I thought it was pretty good, kind of miss the sparkles and bubbles though.

Loved it! An aggressive Kazahaya is a beauty to behold!

Sawako also had more of a backbone. Pin was useful. And Joe was his cockblocking self.

Absolutely loved the movie. It had everything from the first season and the characters were spot on

While I wouldn't say it had everything, it's still a faithful adaptation of the anime/manga. All the characters act the same way they do in the source material and the key character development moments are all present.

Most of the stuff they left out are relatively minor details and for the most part I don't hold it against the film for leaving these things out because it'll make the movie much longer and it's rare for a studio to allow filmmakers to make a movie longer than 3 hours:

most of Sawako's internal monologues

Kurumi being humiliated

Kurumi's back story/ why she likes Kazehaya <-- I felt this shouldn't have been left out but nevertheless, Kurumi in the movie acts the same way she does in the source.

Kazehaya's jealous moments

I find it interesting that they added more characterization to Sawako's father as we see what he does for a living.

FINALLY! Yes!

What we've all been waiting for, probably since the first time we saw this, finally all the misunderstandings are gone and they're finally together. After 35 episodes, after going through a lot of misunderstandings, it's finally here, and I think it makes it all worth it.Sure, it may seems like a lot, but you can clearly see here that Sawako has done a lot of things since we first saw her. From someone who used to sit by her own in class, she now has a bravery to put on an amazing performance in front of judges and the whole school, with all her classmates talking to her, being friendly with her, even lifting her up in the air.

Now, some people may say that they like the side characters better, because they're more interesting, but for me KnT still did a great job with her main couple. A small but crucial difference I see in Sawako is that she's not someone who got up to this point by having Kazehaya swoop in and do everything for her, but she got to this point on her own. He's only provides help and support, but all the friends she got here, she's the one who reached out to them, who did her best to become their friends. Like she said: Watch me, I'm going to do my best. Put simply, she's now here being loved by everyone by simply being herself, but still she's trying her best to improve herself. This, coupled with how Kazehaya isn't a jerk male lead like most in Shoujos, but actually an honest-to-goodness nice guy, and that's why Sawako (and the audience) likes him.

Well, the content aside, the delivery from the anime is also superb. The music placement is again top-notch, and unlike some other series, the ending song actually flows so perfectly after the last scene, even the lyrics fits so well I'm thinking the ED was made with this episode in mind. I also loved the attention to detail in the background, there's really a lot of variety to the costumes they're wearing, and small things like we saw two guys in Cowboy and Cattle Herder costume, and later on they say there's a class with western clothing winning a prize, shows a nice bit of consistency.

Two years ago, I argued that the entirety of Clannad and After Story were meant for the events of After Story episode 17 and especially 18.

This year, I also argue that the entirety of Kimi ni Todoke exists for episodes 9 and 10 of season 2.

The score by S.E.N.S. is without a doubt one of the main reasons why this adaptation has been so good, especially in episodes 9 and 10 of the second season. Plus like i said, we're still getting new pieces of music (the piece that you just mentioned). That shows that we're getting tracks made just for that scene, which is perfect, just perfect.

Kanon Kana Hanazawa ♥ Join Date: Jun 2007 Location: France Age: 37	Spoiler for episode 10: Perfect. Simply perfect. This was so beautiful I could almost cry. We are definitely back to the good old Kimi ni Todoke, the one that makes me smile, laugh, and feel warm inside - not out of rage, as opposed to most of the episode this season. I hadn't felt this satisfied by a KimiTodo episode since ... I can't even remember. Honestly, I think they should have ended the season right there. I can't imagine how they're going to be able to top this. Aside from the stunning romantic scenes, there were also quite a few amusing moments as well. Sawako's performance in the festival was incredible. They would have easily won if Pin hadn't attempted to bribe the judges... that totally backfired on him. His reaction was so hilarious It felt good to see Joe pushed aside by Kazehaya too. I'm usually all for "bros before hoes", but not in this case. Joe is a terrible friend anyway. He's just annoying. Ryu, on the other hand, is a god tier bro. Speaking of Ryu, I'm starting to think he has narcolepsy... & I can only agree the music placement was flawless once again. I loved the piece that played during the "earthquake scene". The animation and art were top-notch as well. I.G is doing a brilliant job on this series. __________________
