An announcement of the next Expansion will be this Thursday.
So far I've enjoyed most of the expansions (I started during TBC). With only CATA being less interesting after I finished leveling. The skill cap for raiding was a little over our guild's abilities to keep even 10 people to run. Plus some of the dungeons were long that it got our usual tank irritable. I enjoyed the story aspect, the revamped 1-60 experience, The standard leveling was interesting. Just the ability to do things later on was lacking. MoP kept me doing stuff most of the expansion, though I did skip a patch entirely, I caught up later. Draenor has kept my attention so far, even if I sometimes don't play during a week.

Detailed rundown of things revealed about the next expansion, Legion, at Gamescom
Last expansion, I guess? It seems like they're cramming every major/unexplored aspect into this one to wrap it all up.

It better be a redemption story. I don't want the game to have it where you have to kill Illidan a second time. I'm afraid if that is gonna happen they're really gonna make it final this time. And I feel it's gonna be a waste if they want to just bring him back so they can have a remade raid fight. Unless it's a fight that ends with him coming to his senses but remaining alive to help us.
I hope there's some info on this soon. I saw a pic of Guldan and Illidan facing off in a picture in the gamescom vid. That better happen in the game. With Illidan going neutral at the very least. |

Well with Demon Hunters as a new hero class, and Illidan as your trainer (prehap in the past) maybe you can bring him back to sanity to fight the Legion. That was why he became a hunter after all, and I guess Kiljadin is out of the picture still since the end of TBC.
If we are going to go all out we need to see the Dark Titan this time instead of his lackeys.

All the features stated seem like a desperate attempt to pull people back. It's like everything everyone's been asking for, which usually doesn't lead to good things.
I mean, seriously. Ashbringer and Doomhammer as player usable models. Heavy class focus. Queen Azshara. The Emerald Dream. Illidan and Demon Hunters. Taking the fight to the Legion. Alleria and Turalyon. This is literally like three expansions of stuff crammed together. That said, they also promised a lot of good stuff for Draenor, most of which I don't recall us getting. So... yeah, I'll look into it more when we get closer to an actual release. |

Yup, this is about where I am too. That moment months back when I realized that as a non-raider I was paying 15 bucks a month to play a facebook game was pretty sobering. This announcement seemed pretty exciting but I will need to see a lot of concrete things before jumping on this bandwagon.

I'll want to see more things as well, but I am leaning towards thinking they're pouring everything into one last expansion and trying to go out on a relative high (although Wrath will always be the peak for them).
Their most recent numbers have WoW at 5.6 million. Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm and Diablo 3 have 70 million between them. I think they know World of Warcraft has been fortunate to still be around a decade later and that it's probably time to wrap a subscriber-based game up and focus more on Overwatch and other things. But hey - only the Elven races getting to be Demon Hunters, Class Halls, Artifact weapons, Alleria and Turalyon FINALLY appearing, other storylines deserving of exposure getting put into the mix. My interest is piqued even though I don't raid. I am interested to see how this ends. Because I can't see how it could continue past this. They probably tested the waters to see if characters like Yrel could move things to a new generation of characters. Didn't interest enough people. And technically, isn't Sargeras the greatest threat in the WoW universe? You take care of that, the naga and the nightmare invading the Emerald Dream, along with the possibility of Sylvanas's contract with the Val'kyr coming to pass and that Alleria re-appearing could work with that. What else would there be to do after this? And perhaps they get that after this one, perhaps it is time to move on. As for Illidan redemption, it could happen. In the reworked Felwood, there was a night elf Demon Hunter that was detailing the flipside of what Illidan did. So it's not like this is the first mention of it. Illidan turning against the Legion sounds like a plan.

Looks interesting. Demon Hunter looks fun, been waiting for that one for a while. Illidan isn't a boss though? Unless I missed it, he is the Demon Hunter class mentor/trainer thing. Sargeras better be the final big bad at the end of all this.
