That's just Lelouch putting on his contact lens to cover his Geass. The thing to notice is that they made a trivial visual change recently in Ep. 19 by changing the background from day to night. I don't think the meaning of this is trivial though otherwise they wouldn't make such a small modification.

C.C. is also smiling under the moon light, the only scene aside from the KMF line up that occurs at night. Full moons are usually symbolic of some form of seperation, as the goddess Luna/Selene (assuming Greek panthenon) are usually characterized by songs about birds flying away. Couple this with the constant symbolism of C.C. being bird-like or something on the winds, 2nd ED, her character song for Season 2, and you can put forth a plausible meaning.

The full moon is also, in a large number of cultures, attributed to various mental conditions and/or death. However, the more interesting meaning, is its representation of witchcraft and witches, but that one too is tied with an air of death or decay.

It's interesting that all of the spoilers for episode 21 include that "Area 11 falls into chaos" or "Area 11 is in huge chaos"

Is the chaos because of the coup de tat? Is it because there is a split within the Black Knights? Any other thoughts to what the chaos could be?

(If you take a look, Kaguya looks pissed at the other members of the Black Knights, because she believes that Zero is the one facing the emperor) I love it that she's right.

Monarchy titles in a Empire systems have just the meanings as lands property families and the rights they have on their zone and people on. for example a Duke owns people/lands and a Marquise can have no lands and just a title

In Monarchy family tree give the succesor
In empire its a nomination by the last in title or will. If noone is nominated, its the one with the more relations with those with influence (lands(tax) or military) who win the throne. Usually the emperor named his eldest son but he can name the son he find the most capable or his grandson or his brother or his nephew or a general or a Politic man he find that can rule the country fine(happen a lot in roman empire where the parliament rich families system was powerful).
History have show examples of this 4 possibilities in roman, european,middle east and chinese empire. The reason is simple : an empire go beyond the lands of a kingdom so nominating through the monarchist family tree system can lead to the end/partage of kingdoms gathering an empire is.
The most funny was the chinese emperor who was using the legend of the kirin(a licorn ll choose the emperor) implying that was the strongest who take the throne
Thats why the succesor mainly need to be someone the army ll follow, the landers and legislatives people will accept aand it was rarely the first son. And most of the emperors who choose their eldest son make their empire return to their original kingdom influence size.
I think Odyseus have no right on the Brittanian empire at all and reclaiming it will go to the clash cause no one is forced to follow him looking the system and ll choose to follow him when you know the character

According to google, it also translates to "Love on a Pillow". It has double meanings, then? Hmm... sex or battle. Which one belongs in Code Geass more?
