Another straight adaptation from the manga chapters, but with some rather nice action scenes. The talkie scenes in between are really starting to feel cheap, but Nakamura saves the day at the end with a nice short piece of action animation that will lead into a much more action packed fight next week. Hopefully he'll be animating that too.

One, it can be entertaining.
Two, in Soul Eater's case it's the mangka using the whole 'dark side of human nature' idea (though here it strikes me as lack of control and giving into desire rather than some inherent evil, but I could be wrong?). Don't know if it counts in your other examples, but it's a good versus evil concept that can and does get a lot of mileage in anime (amongst other things, for that matter). |
