I've enjoyed both OVAs as well. Murasaki's maturity and sneakiness definitely got demonstrated when she told the girls to just be friends with him so that she could be the only one to go out with him.

Accepting Kirihiko as her friend despite her family was also Murasaki showing a side more mature than a lot of adults.

So funny. Oh man. The treasure mix up and the girls cursing him and then Murasaki's little help sessions that ultimately helped her in the end. Oh man, poor guy.

The action and humor is spot on for this series. Well maybe if I am lucky someday, I will buy the rights to a lot of series I like and make sequels out of them.
Indeed. We can only hope the OVAs give it more attention and boost readership enough for them to think about a new anime. There is plenty of content too. If only they'd make animes out of the series that have amply content and not the ones that don't have enough.

Murasaki was still the driving force in everything. She caused Kirihiko to acknowledge her feelings, created the misunderstanding with his treasure, and was the center of the final part.

And they are playing it too much for laughs and fighting, and not enough for the emotions of the main characters -- for my taste. I did think Yuuki Aoi came closer to recreating Murasaki in episode two than she did in ep1.
I am glad this is all for laughs. They also can't do anything serious because it would require more episodes and we wouldn't want them to have to abridge it.

It's like Kakkou said, it's for the manga readers since it comes with the volumes.

The manga does have it's dark and serious moments (the light novels even more, I hear), they just weren't done in the ovas.

In the end, these ovas are just little treats to the manga readers but at the same time such a damn tease about the possibility of seeing a second season looking like that . I enjoyed them very much.
I shall be praying for a proper second season.

The OVA's are also nice for people like myself who've only seen the TV series. Just seeing this wonderful cast plush hearing the wonderful score is good enough for me. I could deal with endless OVA's, and i'd always be pleased.

Finally watched those 2 ova. Wow , this make me miss the show a lot...
Hearing those voice actors again and the characters , gaaaah Murasaki is really mature for her age still naive but it makes her character more enjoyable ^^
Tamaki & Yamie duo are always hilarious.
And Lin became kind wow , that's a big change.

I still prefer the TV anime chara design. Good that they kept the same voice actors.
And yes , i want a second season too.

Edit : So , this give me desire to read the manga , wow , didn't know that the anime # manga. But it's still great.

Did anyone get a "Lag" feeling when he was crying about his secret treasure ? That hesitance in his voice makes him(Shinkurou) so likable =03. The "Lin threatening Shinkurou" business is kinda annoying at times though. It just seems a bit excessive =0\.

I'm still not used to this Lin. She's so much different from her anime counterpart. I like this one a lot better though, she's very funny and entertaining. The Kirihiko segment was adorable, it made me want to learn more about her. Porn segment was the best though. Wow, can't believe Lin let Murasaki give Shinkurou that photobook to replace his porn. It's so wrong

I certainly wouldn't mind more Kurenai OVAs. For the time being though, I hope Brain Base will concentrate on Denpateki. It's been ages since the last episode came out.

This Lin is much better. And what's wrong about the photobook? It's pure and innocent. It's the same as a photo album... it's not like they told him to fap to it.

And here I thought they finished that series. I'd really like another episode to that.

I'm a Yuuno shipper myself... so I object to any lolicon insinuations.

I'm in the Murasaki camp and I approve of her waiting until she's older.

There's nothing wrong with the photobook itself indeed. However, Murasaki gave it to him to replace his treasure (the porn), and Lin forbid him to look at any photobook from now on. It's like she's giving him the go ahead

Put me in the Ginko camp. I love Murasaki but I don't see it happening, and not just the age difference.

On balance, I liked that OVA much better than the first one. Haven't read the manga, so I don't think the notion that these OVAs are only enjoyable for manga readers holds water. They're different than the TV, but having been hooked on the characters makes the OVAs work for me. If someone had no familiarity with the material whatsoever, I could see them wondering what all the fuss was about.

"Treasure" was easily the best story of the three. Really funny, with all the characters at their oddball best.

Yuuno is so flirty, but Ginko is so tsun.

DON'T MAKE ME CHOOSE.

What I like about this show is how characters converse at the same time, like at the dinner scene, without being unintelligible gibberish. It makes them so much more human and engaging. The OVA brings back memories of such trivial conversations in the TV series. I had to double take a few times though just because I didn't know who said what. Ginko likes to speak what's on her mind.

When your harem is that messed up, it should be expected.

I just re-watched these tonight and smiled for much of the time. They're obviously much much more harem-y than the original, which is a bit strange since I always considered that show something of an anti-harem. (I thought the OP used a bit of misdirection there as a method of parody.) i liked the comic transformation of Rin in these but missed Benika and Yayoi.

The relationship among Shinkarou, Yuuno, and Ginko is on full display here. I loved how both girls told Murasaki during the "limousine confessions" arc that they hated how much time Shinkarou spent with their rival. It does appear that he spends more time with Ginko, but I see that Yunno makes sure her more limited access to him include a good dose of close physical contact. Oh, and, if possible, some physical exposure as well, preferably in that bikini she claims he asked her to wear. (Sure, Yunno, I believe that.) Those fanservice scenes of Yuuno kicking butt in her swimsuit were a nice treat from Brains-Base.

You'd have to be stupid not to think those were Shinkarou's treasures. It's pretty much impossible to believe that he had never looked under his sink. I suppose the magazines might have been left behind by a previous tenant. If so, they must really have seemed like a treasure trove to a teen-aged boy.

In the US we use the term "shotgun wedding" to describe a marriage where the bride is pregnant and the father wields his shotgun to force the baby's father to wed. I can just see Lin wielding that katana and telling Shinkarou he needs to marry Murasaki-sama because that what she wants! And whatever Murasaki-sama wants, Rin will go to the ends of the earth to make happen.
