Shana wins a decisive victory. On the other hand Mugi shows a surprising level of grass roots popularity while Yui needed a last minute rush just to overcome her bandmate but still remain well out of reach of Shana. Yurippe managed to surpass God by seven votes. Nymph also had a bit of a rally at the end to pass ToLoveRu Yui.

All those fakes really masked everything.

Anyway, on to group 16. Lots of good picks including 3 of my personal favorites, but no real contenders for the top spots of the tournament except maybe Hamster if she gets the right matchups. (Or maybe someone from a popular show I haven't watched, like Negima)

I pick Hamster to win this group. Beyond that I really have no idea.

A really nice result from my point of view. Only got one character completely eliminated and most actually made it through to the next round. Glad Shana had such a strong showing and took the group. Actually surprised by how well Cecily did with Utau and Lisa just making it in behind her. Too bad Winry couldn't make the top 12, but at least she wasn't far off.

I disapprove of this sort of voting tactic. I wonder who they will blame it on and blanket ban this time around. It wasn't the Aux thread...There were only about 300 votes in there late last night.

Begs the question as to why the tactic was used and for who's benefit. Is it an obsessive fan spamming his favorate to see if he can get past the system, or is it someone attempting to hide results under a wash of votes for those that can see the tracker. The entire top gets more than 200 fakes, Shana gets almost 500 and Yui gets over 900 fakes? What was the point of that anyway? It seems way to early for such tactics.

It masked Mugi's run for second nicely.

I wonder if this was the point? Getting another faction banned from voting would increase your faction's odds of controlling the outcome.

Then it must have been Mugi's fans... yeah not likely. It is interesting that Mugi led Yui until the last minute rally, suggesting that Yui's fans are more organized, but that among more casual voters perhaps Mugi is more popular.

Anyway, massive fake voting at this point is really pointless indeed. You can't snipe anybody in the prelims. But, then again, the results of the prelims can have some minor effects on the impressions of strength that people have of characters in the main tourney, which has an effect on how people vote later on. It's all quite vague and very loosely linked, but things done now can have an effect down the road... and it doesn't surprise me that there would be Japanese otaku obsessive enough to do anything and everything they can to get their moe to win. Still, it is hard to tell at this point even if it is better to look stronger in order to garner fair-weather votes, or weaker in order to avoid assassination. It would probably depend on the character. Or, maybe people are fake voting just so that their character does well in the preliminary, as a matter of pride. Or maybe fake voting in the prelims could be used as research, since the effect of fake votes can be difficult to gauge.

Well, I think the mods are smart enough to realise that banning all of the voting for a particular faction would be dumb... they can see ip addresses and ranges, etc... Prolly just ban the proxy that they were using.... saa
