same old same old predictable stuff imo...
he meets rin and falls in love ~ she gets killed in front of him ~ he is weak and powerless to do anything ~ he then makes a contract after he fell deep down in sorrow ~ and the rest is history *yadda yadda*

would be surprising if they manage to pull something else out of the hat though

I haven't read the novel as they are still being translated, but a question for who have read the novel does it say he fell in love with her? could it be just speculation from someone here. Kazuma always said he wants to protect people could it be that he could not protect her and that's why he feels guilty. Again i have not read that's why im asking.

are you saying that from what do you think it happened or you read the novel?

I wonder what the 'catch' is to the contract he made though--it seems hard to believe that he'd get all that power from the wind god without giving up something in return. Maybe every time he uses the power it shortens his lifespan? What would a wind god want in return? Probably not money...anyway, I hope before the series is over we get to see more of Kazuma's backstory and what the contract really entails...

Like when it's going to be released etc etc.

Just to quote / translate something from the end of volume 5 (this is after the incident where Kazuma became berserk and went back to normal thanks to Ayano)

Ayano has always been protected by Kazuma, and despite the fact that she takes delight of being treasured by Kazuma as someone important to him, she's not contented with simply this. She wants him to be able to rely on her as well... for her to be of use to him...

Wanting to know who she really is in Kazuma's life, she goes to confront her and asks, "Just who am (exactly) I in your life?! Just an excess luggage? A drag?! Someone who hides behind you to avoid being a hindrance (in battle)? Then after the battle is over, gets an embrace or a kiss (in return) as a sign of thanks?! Stop kidding me!!"

"Don't carry the burden all by yourself! I'm not telling you to entrust me with your problems... but I want to be of help (even a little)" (Ayano becomes frank about her feelings... and this is really aww ^^)

And well, Ayano's words left Kazuma dumbfounded

He can only stare at Ayano (in utter amazement) after all that she said... but of course that wasn't the reaction Ayano wanted. She just told him "Ah! enough of this!" because Kazuma wasn't responding...

Minutes passed, and Kazuma could simply stare at Ayano... (it's said that Ayano was at the center of Kazuma's vision then... or that no one else is in his field of vision but her) Kazuma thinks of Ayano, the girl who brought him back to his senses, back to reality.

The wind seemed to have felt the mood between these two and let out a gust which made Ayano's hair sway with it... and Kazuma saw it as a symbol of how it was reaching out to his heart. And what Kazuma did was gently caress her hair (rendering Ayano stunned), then even kissed it (lovingly) >x< (if I'm going to interpret this, it will seem like Kazuma accepted Ayano's feelings, and the kiss is a symbol that he reciprocates the feelings as well~ *^-^* )

and that little scene is the one depicted here:

Kazuma also tells Ayano "I leave things to you, partner" -> Kazuma is fianlly acknowleding Ayano as his "partner"... not simply a bodyguard for hire or something like that :3

I think this should be more than enough to show the mutuality of the 'love' between these two.
volume 6 even makes it clearer, with Kazuma actually leaning on Ayano's shoulder... then leaning on her lap for comfort and <3 ^-^

now about the 'bargain' of Kazuma with the Wind Spirit, it was mentioned before that he sort of tricked the spirit king, so it's possible that he doesn't get to pay anything in exchange for the powers he got

I'm sure that when he met the Spirit King, it was in a bar and they were both very drunk.

When they woke up together in bed the day after, he mysteriously had a killer headache and his contractor powers, but no recollection of the previous evening.

Finally our beloved usagijen is back...

I don't think it's actually possible to trick the Spirit King, that's just Kazuma's typical way to brush off the topic..Just like when he told Ren he sort of died once a week during his training in China, but when Ren tried to dig deeper into the details, he just replied with "all sort of things..." and changed the topic to tell the funny part of the stories.

Awww that's sounds really nice...Anywayz, do they even kiss in the novel? I mean does novel mention a kiss happening between them and I mean a real kiss like mouth to mouth?

I know this would be a spoiler but I really want to know.

I think you know what I mean by a REAL kiss. Anyway the one in episode 4 isn't counted, although it was mouth to mouth it wasn't intended to be a kiss.
