Oye that'd be bad.

Every player playing as a commissar would then have the ability to execute any friendly imperial troopers

Why worry about that when there's always more guardsmen where that came from?

Now that you think about it:

Humanity of Warhammer 40000 must be a really really randy bunch to punch out THAT many children to allow a steady flow of fresh meat for the grinder.

Sure, humanity has a million worlds and all, but the fact that it still takes 9 months for one to come into being and another 16 years before he or she is in fighting shape....

The regular Cadian grunts are pretty hardcore according to the lore. Also regular grunts from Death Worlds are pretty awesome as well such as Catachan Jungle Fighters and the Krieg Death Korps. Not surprising really since alot of Space Marine Chapters recruit from them.

I can see why.

#1. It will IF the developers decides to bend over and cater to the casual crowd. Look at what it did to Star Wars Online. EVE Online is at what it is now because it never did.

#2. LORE RAPE! To accomodate again the casuals. Look at what it did to WoW, where it turned its lore into a fucking joke with all those retcons. Also, the werewolf race changed for the Twilight fangirls.

The werewolf race as you put it has been in WoW since Vanilla and was hinted at becoming a playable race even before BC came out.

I just don't think a universe like 40k lends itself well to an MMO format. It depends on how it is done but I'm not going to make any theories or jumping for joy over a short video clip.

A Planetside or Tribes like game would fit the 40K universe without much troubles, for a MMORPG we ll have to wait for more details i think.

#1: They will, because the casual crowd is where the money is. The "casual gamer" who plays one or two hours a day, runs around rolling 485476274 alts and collecting the little vanity pets is 80% of World of Warcraft's player base.

#2: It's THQ, the lore's fate is sealed.

Looks better on paper compare to the initial plans by THQ's Virgil studio.

4 starting factions with Space Marines, Ork, Eldar and Chaos Marines in a 3rd person shooter/ action hack n slash style. Though I'm skeptical as per norm with MMOs and Behaviour Interactive doesn't have a strong portfolio of games.

This already sounds way better than the old one. As long as it's not too heavily instanced it could turn out to be a hit. They better have Jump Packs though.
