I understand that pain there Wandering AI. I have a digital camera from the early days of digital cameras, and to see the prices now is kinda painful (or would be if I actually paid for the thing instead of winning it in a lawsuit).
btw, nice pictures people. |

I jumped into the digital camera fray when they were still moderately expensive but not anywhere near that expensive Wandering A.I.!!
My first 2.1MPix Fuji was about $400. Nice photo with the camera anyway . However, the latest S602 was £550 (~ $900) - a bit of a expensive splash out, but I'm not regretting it one bit. It's a joy to use. Asura : Indeed, some nice macro work there! I have a few 'semi' macro shots, mostly of water features though. I shall have to dig them up. Oh, and cheers for the large Seattle pic! Funnylink : Well, what can I say but... Ahhhhhhhhhh!! Triple zZz : Lovely waterfall shot there! Makes me want to post such a shot now.. and the mountains fading into the haze is quite effective too. Nice. I guess these are digital stills, being 640x480? Another waterfall pic : |

Thanks gravitation - (EtherNEZ waxes philosophical) - There are beautiful places everywhere if you just look closely enough for them....
That particular waterfall would be a particular challenge to climb I suspect as it's almost entirely covered with freezing cold meltwater!! *shiver* Asura Well there's certainly worse ways they could kick the bucket.... Keeping with that watery theme.... here's a nice water feature, not a macro really but certainly a serious close-up. This waterfall is really small! Water is always a fascinating material to photograph. Last edited by EtherNEZ; 2003-11-05 at 17:12. Reason: One day, I'll check the preview properly, one day.... |

You know EtherNEZ, that might look better with a longer exposure time. However, I am not sure how long your digital camera will let you go. The longer the exposure on waterfalls the cooler they look
I think I could make it up either of those waterfalls, but then again I have had similar thoughts land me in the hospital. goes off to look for more waterfall pictures |

Esperchld : Ooohh. A monochrome shot. Nice ^_^. Once again I say the exposure working wonders on the water flow.

Photos from Japan would be a very welcome addition to this thread I'd really love to see first hand pictures of Fuji-san, Hokkaido and Okinawa particularly, but I'd be happy with anywhere else really! Last edited by EtherNEZ; 2003-11-06 at 07:49. |

Wow, you all have such beautiful photos! Please continue posting more... Hellychan, I would also love to see your photos of Japan.
Here's a waterfall pic of Yosemite Falls. And here's a beach on the Windward side of Hawaii... The digital camera that I'm using is the Olympus Camedia D-40 ZOOM. Here are the specs for those that are curious: http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_se...sp?product=712 |

Ah, Hinata-chan, now you've got me going coastal again
Esperchld : Very Autumnal , lovely colouration and the water effect is if anything even more pronounced this time. EDIT : Wow , you're going for the kill this time with not 1, nor 2 but 3 glorious images! The effect on the last one is so strong it looks almost ethereal, like a scene from an Elvish fantasy... Here's another favourite, everytime I go here I think of Enid Blytons's Famous Five, ah, the adventures.... |

Thank you EtherNEZ and Hinata-chan. What can I say EtherNEZ those were taken last week and the week before (couldn't finish the roll inbetween due to having to cut my trip early to due being stupid on rocks). On a similar note, those rocks look like they might be fun .....
Nice NenMaster, I see someone else doesn't leave the case on their computer. |

Hrm, the exotic scenery is dominating the thread. ^^ Now for something
completely different...here are some night time urban shots I took last Spring. I didn't take them seriously enough not to be drunk whilst taking them, but there are some interesting shadows and some light on flower effects at least. ^^ Hoboken is just across the river from New York City and is a nice place you can subway(well path) over to in order to crawl the bars and sleep with secretaries who can't afford the Manhattan rent. My batting average is somewhat less than that of my friends', however, thus the wandering about taking pictures of flowers at 2am... |
