Gantz might fit your request. The setting itself is going to another dimension in it's own way, so you could give that a try. If I'm not mistaken, the manga is still ongoing so you can check that out if the anime doesn't satisfy you.

Wow, a request for shows about "dimensional travel" and not one mention of Noein? Is that just because it's from 2004 and our younger members don't watch shows that "old?"
A strong second for Twelve Kingdoms as well. I'll also recommend Mahou Shoujo Tai Arusu (known as "Tweeny Witches" in R1). A young human girl named Arusu ("Alice") falls off a building and lands in an world ruled by magic. Not just for kids despite the title and some commentaries. The second story arc in Mononoke has some weird traveling it in as well.

Going to another dimension:
Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari: A boy gets sent to another world in order to save it. Its one of those Tenshi Muyo universe stories, but you don't need to know anything about it to enjoy it (there are a few references, but its trivial). I think there's one more that's also a tenshi muyo alternate universe, called Dual! Parallel World or something similar. I didn't have it on my MAL list for some reason, but I'm sure you can find the title. |

Oh, OP, two more "completely WTF" titles (that also happen to have excellent plots, artwork and voiceovers): Baccano! and Durarara!! These two shows have some of the weirdest (yet most awesomely badass) characters ever.
