The weird thing is, that is also a great portrayal of the Tony - Pepper relationship. Tony is a genius, but Pepper is what keeps him grounded. Tony relied on Jarvis alot, but he needs Pepper much more. In fact what made him more independent in IM3 isn't that he lost most of his tools, but that he lost direct contact with Pepper.

I actually disagree with this. An army of Shield Agents would have been as good if not better than the Iron Legion. Frankly, Tony/Jarvis drastically misused the Iron Suits when fighting the Extremis army. Choosing one-on-one hand-to-hand fighting instead of simply shooting them from a distance was a foolish mistake. Despite their vast regenerative properties, the Extremis army can be defeated by destroying their heads and/or hearts (or simply dealing enough damage), so if Tony would have directed the army to stay out of range and keeping aiming for heart-shots then he could have taken down the Extremis army far more quickly or at least more efficiently (without the loses he suffered). Honestly, someone like Hawkeye (and to a lesser extent the Black Widow) would have made mincemeat out of the Extremis army just by using multiple explosive arrows aimed at their hearts or heads. As it is, a army of shield agents using bazookas would have done as much damage as Stark's Iron Legion (though there would have been actual human deaths involved during the course of battle).

I agree that he was ridiculously bad at dealing with them. Well, I suppose they needed it for the tension.

Still, summoning Shield Agents is harder and more problematic. I suppose he could have diverted a couple of armors to use as taxis...

Still, the point remains: what's he going to do the next time he feels like pitting his weakness against his enemy's strength and gets his armor destroyed around him?

He could have already created the Extremis Armor, the nanotech armor which literally stored inside his body. Assuming they will go with that, it technically gave Tony a Super Power without "relying outside source too much.

Well, the general consensus that I get after reading many reviews and comments from various websites is that: if you're okay with action with plot-holes, you like RDJ and his antics, and not a fan of Iron-man comics (and Mandarin in particular), you'll enjoy the movie. If you're the opposite of all those points, you better choose other movie.

Basically my feelings overall with the movie, too many holes, and as a Fan of Iron Man and the Mandarin, I was Disappointed in this movie, heck, the only thing Crossing my mind during the last act was Lethal Weapon 2.

I just finished watching IM3. Thoughts

-It was overall an OK. Nothing blockbuster.

-The enemy's overall strategy is a bit meh. Oh, I want to control the country via fake Terrorism. I want to make super humans and want funds, oh, I want to teach Stark a lesson for banging my girlfriend. I just wish it was overall coherent. As if the villain was ADD or something.

-Mandarin as a fake and a drunk. Kind of great-therefore avoiding

1) Yellow peril character and get your studio banned.
2) Chinese Guy couldn't act in Chinese roles.

But at the same time, right wing boards screaming politically correct people bowing to China/make light of Islamic terror. Guess you can't please everyone.

-I am not sure if the whole use the remote Iron Man/unmanned Iron Man was a subtle reference to unmanned Drones used by Bush/Obama.

-Pepper suppose to transcend the whole damsel in distress trope, and all she got was a 1 min thing in the end with a single punch. Feminists must all be up in arms.

-Where did Tony find the Hot Car in little town, Tennessee? What, did he steal a car or something?

-Law of Physics must be crying the way people just get carried by an Iron Man/War Machine suit.

-Re: Some people make fun of the China +4 min plotless stuff that shown only in Chinese theaters. That was bloody smart, actually. Because in general China only allow 10 foreign film into the country in a year. By having the 4 min (or 3 min) "Chinese Cameo", it allowed it to be shown in China directly without fighting other studios for the quota. That, may worth 10X more than any funding it got for partnering with anyone in China. We might seeing a lot of studios trying to do this in the coming years. (I.E one for International, One for China +5 min)

-The president is kidnapped on a War Machine high tech suit that should had tons of sensors on it. Where is Shield and avengers? What is my tax dollars doing? And more importantly, how did that woman disarm War Machine in the first place with a Handshake?

A bit late but I watched. I see many came to a similar conclusion as me. I found it better than Iron Man 2 but worse than Iron Man 1. The villain was kind of forgettable despite his powers and Tony was not at his best (what happened with The Avengers' Iron Man?)
